‘Hollywood Medium’ star Tyler Henry embraces skeptics in new live Netflix series

Medium Tyler Henry wants believers and skeptics alike to tune into his new live Netflix series, “Live from the Other Side.”

The weekend brings the opening of Summerfield Zoo, the Rockford Coffee Crawl, Bat out of Hell the Musical, wedding expos and Earth Day events, along with fundraisers, live music and more to the Rockford area.

Art in Bloom on View

What: Rockford Art Museum presents the 10th annual Art In Bloom exhibition in its galleries, where designers will use flowers and other organic materials to interpret pieces of art from the Permanent Collection.

When: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. April 16-19

Where: Rockford Art Museum, 711 N. Main St., Rockford

Cost: $10; $5 for members

Rock the Rockford ReStore

What: This three-day community celebration and annual sale event brings together shopping and entertainment. There will be food trucks, live music, demonstrations, giveaways and exclusive deals and new items each day.

When: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. April 16-April 18

Where: Rockford ReStore, 7141 Harrison Ave., Rockford

Cost: Free admission

Rockford Coffee Crawl

What: Independent coffee shops in the Rockford region host the Rockford Coffee Crawl 2026. Participants include Rosie’s in Pecatonica; My Café Amore in Cherry Valley; Inzombia Coffee, Meg’s Daily Grind, Rockford Roasting Company, Wired Café, alMoka Coffee House, Katie’s Cup, Mrs. Buckbee’s and La Croute Bakery, all in Rockford; and DeeDee’s Main St. Coffee and Décor in Rockton. Tour through the stateline and enjoy food, pastries and coffee at its best. If you visit at least five of the participating shops, you are entered for a chance to win a gift basket with merchandise, gift cards and other items from each of the participating shops.

Oak Sapling Giveaway

What: Pick up bare-root saplings while supplies last. There will be red oak, burr oak, white oak, and pecan saplings available. You can take up to three per household. Each sapling is 1-2 feet long and will need to be planted in a pot or in the ground within a few days of pick up. Planting instructions will be provided.

Stateline Splendor Bridal Expo

What: Plan your wedding in one location with vendors, prizes and a fashion show.

Fashion in Bloom

What: The ninth annual Fashion in Bloom fashion show spotlights fresh floral accessories and living couture by regional designers, as well as vibrant fashions from local fashion boutique B Jones. This event includes heavy hors d’oeuvres, cash bar and music by Luxe Productions. A limited number of tickets will be sold; reservations are required. Proceeds benefit Rockford Art Museum exhibitions and programs.

An Evening with Caitlyn Mae

What: Caitlin Mae is a Nashville-based, award-winning country singer/songwriter, whose music has earned international acclaim, radio success, and a rapidly growing global fanbase. Known for honest storytelling and dynamic live performances, Caitlin Mae has taken her music from arena shows and major festival stages, to headline tours, including sharing the stage with country music star, Carrie Underwood. Now calling Nashville home, she continues to tour nationally and internationally.

Bat Out of Hell the Musical

What: “Bat Out of Hell,” the award-winning musical, is a spectacle in which the timeless music of Jim Steinman and Meat Loaf reigns supreme. In this reimagined show, a dynamic eight-piece rock band performs amidst sprawling multi-level platforms that transport you through the diverse worlds of Bat Out Of Hell. The cast will bring powerhouse vocals to Meat Loaf’s anthems including “I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That),” “Dead Ringer for Love,” “It’s All Coming Back to Me,” and of course, “Bat Out of Hell.”

Grounded at Atwood

What: Immerse yourself in yoga among the trees in this one-hour yoga flow class that combines Yin and Vinyasa Yoga. Join yoga instructor, Marie Bridges, overlooking the oaks, hickories and sycamores from the floor-to-ceiling windows of Lupton Hall. This class is designed to marry breath with movement, using a sequence of postures that engage the muscles, improve flexibility and promote mindfulness. Whether you’re new to yoga or a seasoned practitioner, this class is designed to be accessible to all who are willing to try. Registration closes at 8 a.m. All ages are welcome. Participants 14 years of age and younger must have an adult present. Please bring a yoga mat and a water bottle.

Week of the Young Child Family Fun Fair

What: The National Association of Education for Young Children (NAEYC) designates one week in April to celebrate early learning, young children, their teachers, families and communities. The WOYC Rockford Region hosts this annual Family Fun Fair.

When: 9 a.m. – noon April 18

Where: Harlem High School, 1 Huskie Circle, Machesney Park

Cost: Free

Opening Weekend

What: Come for the opening weekend of Summerfield Zoo. Tour the zoo’s exotic animals, including capybaras, zebra, otters, hyenas, wolves, reindeer and sloth. Get up close with many animals and see an animal presentation featuring Daisy the mini cow (with photo opportunities). Buy bottles for the baby goats and pellets for the adult goats. Visit the gift and snack shops. All proceeds support the care of the animals. The zoo is open rain or shine.

When: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. April 18

Where: Summerfield Zoo, 3088 Flora Road, Belvidere

Cost: $16; $14 for seniors; $10 for children; free parking

Wildflower Garden Walk

What: Join Klehm’s knowledgeable volunteers who care for the garden and enjoy a variety of wildflowers in their native setting. Learn which woodland wildflowers you can use in your own shady yard. Learn about soil, sun and moisture requirements, unique adaptations, pollinators and the benefits of using Illinois natives in your yard. Ask questions, learn and enjoy the beauty of spring at this special program. Meet at the Visitor’s Center a few minutes before 10 a.m. Wear suitable shoes and clothing for the weather and possible muddy conditions.

When: 10-11 a.m. April 18

Where: Klehm Arboretum and Botanical Garden, 2715 S. Main St., Rockford

Walk with WMR

What: Come for the first walk of the summer hosted by Women’s March Rockford. The loop around the lake is 1.3 miles. Feel free to bring kids and friendly pets.

When: 10 a.m. April 18

Earth Day with the Lorax

What: Come celebrate Earth Day with the Lorax. Read a shorter version of the Lorax, then paint your own pot to plant a seed.

PFlag Communi-Tea Event

What: Come meet some new like-minded friends, reconnect with familiar faces and celebrate a little Communi-Tea at this English Tea Party event. Feel free to bring a sweet or savory treat, but it’s not required. Come as you are and enjoy some tea and good company. Dress as your favorite Alice in Wonderland character for some added fun. Open mic will be available for anyone interested.

Top Dog & Countryside Meat Giveaway

What: In this giveaway, there are winners every half hour, with different cuts of meat, sides and desserts all up for grab.

Atwood in the Outdoors

What: Join Atwood staff for a trek around the park in search of animal prints.

Touch of Nashville

What: The Hope Foundation’s annual fundraising event supports education opportunities for Hononegah Community High School, including scholarships and teacher grants. Dress business casual or wear a themed outfit. Tickets include admission, dinner for two, The Gem Shop jewelry raffle, a silent auction, raffles and live music by Nauti Nauti.

When: 5:30-10:30 p.m. April 18

Boot Scootin’ Saturday Night

What: This evening will be packed with dancing, food, drinks and a silent auction. Trinadora will be playing country hits from the 80s and 90s. Help celebrate Inscape’s Rockford Area Arts Council Award for Placemaking & Spacemaking.

Superhero Center for Autism Masquerade Ball

What: This is the ninth annual gala. Come support the mission of the center and those it serves. Tyler Henry

What: Medium Tyler Henry, star of the Netflix series, “Life After Death with Tyler Henry” and E! Entertainment’s show, “Hollywood Medium with Tyler Henry,” continues his sold-out national Live Show tour across the country. Tyler will explain how he communicates with the other side, give audience readings and answer audience questions.

Rockford Symphony Orchestra

What: Experience the musical brilliance of compositions exploring destiny and the courage to face it. The concert opens with Carlos Simon’s Fate Now Conquers, a 2020 work depicting the “unpredictable ways of fate,” inspired by Beethoven’s journals and Homer’s Iliad. Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4 features soloist Miri Yampolsky, whose artistry showcases the lyrical elegance and innovation of this pinnacle piano work. The evening concludes with Brahms’s Symphony No. 2, a masterpiece filled with warmth, hope and a triumphant spirit.

Screw City Car Show

What: The Third Annual Screw City Car Show includes eight trophy classes. Joe Locke will DJ the event. There will also be a food truck.

Wedding Expo

What: Whether you’re newly engaged, planning your big day or just looking for inspiration, this event has everything you need in one place: wedding vendors, a live bridal fashion show, hair and makeup services on site, a bar with drinks available for purchase, a coffee shop and a grazing table. The first 25 guests will receive a free glass of champagne. Attendees will have the opportunity to enter a raffle for a chance to win a complimentary bridal suite or a celebratory champagne experience.

Voices of Hope and Promise

What: A new era unfolds for the Nielsen Chorale as the organization presents its first standalone concert under new artistic director Joel Ross. Voices of Hope and Promise features John Rutter’s Mass of the Children and other selected works. The performance will feature the newly formed Nielsen Chorale Chamber Choir, composed of approximately 40 singers, along with professional instrumentalists and soloists, members of the Rockford Symphony Orchestra and area natives Ben Ross and Aria Beert. The Nielsen Chorale has invited youth singers from Kantorei, the Auburn High School CAPA Treble Choir and the Guilford High School Treble Choir to perform.

Ribbit Rabbit Rumble

What: Watch team FROGS take on team RABBITS in Rockford Rage Roller Derby’s spring-time scrimmage.

Cost: $12; $10 in advance; free for ages 8 and younger

Queensryche

What: With 20 million albums sold worldwide, innumerable accolades and a career that has charted the course of multiple genres, Queensryche, “the Thinking Man’s Metal Band” will perform. At a time when bands were writing about sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll, Queensryche were writing about politics, religion and social injustice – topics that are more relevant now than ever. The cloying together of the band’s past and present has become the mark of the band who regrouped in 2012. Guests must be at least 21 to attend the show; a valid photo ID is required. World Ballet Company: Cinderella

What: The fairy tale comes to life in a Broadway-style production for all ages, blending humor, romance and the timeless majesty of classical ballet. World Ballet Company’s Cinderella features a cast of 40 international dancers, more than 150 radiant hand-sewn costumes, hand-crafted sets and choreography by Marina Kesler. There is a 20-minute intermission during the two-hour show, which is appropriate for anyone age 2 and older.
