While some zodiac signs are unapologetically open about their feelings, there are some emotionally detached zodiac signs who hide their vulnerability.
These people are masters of mixed signals and know how to evade the kind of questions that dig deep. One moment you may feel as if you’re really getting to know them, and the next, you’re at square one all over again.
Sometimes these people will have trouble dealing with other people in real-time. They may avoid eye contact and fear face-to-face interaction. They may feel as if they can’t trust themselves not to reveal something about their emotional status that they don’t want others to know.
These are the emotionally detached zodiac signs.
1. Aquarius (January 20 – February 18)
There are people who are heart-centric and many of their actions come from a place of feeling. But that’s not Aquarius, as they aren’t entirely comfortable with their emotions. They’re logical, analytical, and can come off as aloof and detached.
Aquarians aren’t the sign you want to go to when you need a shoulder to cry on. If they are emotionally unavailable, they won’t want to know that much about you. They may not ask you enough questions or seem very interested in your answers. If they feel you’re getting too close and there’s a danger of them revealing too much, they may disappear.
2. Virgo (August 23 – September 22)
Virgos may sometimes be emotionally unavailable, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have feelings; they do, but it may be extremely difficult for them to trust another person enough to feel safe enough to share them. Because they’re trying to protect themselves, they may come off as cold, robotic, and distant.
Virgos don’t want to keep everyone at arm’s length, but somewhere along the way, they were taught to be very careful about trusting people, so they put up walls and test people to see if they pass. It’s a process that doesn’t always work, and sometimes Virgo’s trust issues cause them to miss out.
3. Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21)
Emotions are messy and they can complicate things. Some Sagittarians just don’t have the wherewithal to deal with someone’s emotional neediness; sometimes they don’t have the capacity for their own emotional issues.
Freedom and independence are Sagittarius’ top priorities, and intense emotions can get in the way. If someone gets too emotionally deep with Sagittarius and they aren’t having it, they’ll make a joke and break the serious mood.
This zodiac sign can be insensitive when it comes to considering other people’s feelings and how their actions affect other people’s lives.
4. Gemini (May 21 – June 20)
Virgos may be afraid of getting hurt, but Geminis are afraid of being rejected. They may be hesitant to get emotionally attached to someone because there’s always a danger that person could leave or dump Gemini for someone else. Gemini will make excuses such as they’re not good at relationships.
Hook-ups may seem like a better bet to Gemini because there’s less of a chance of forming an emotional connection with the person. They are great communicators, but when emotionally unavailable, they’re going to make sure to keep the conversation light.
5. Aries (March 21 – April 19)
Aries don’t mean to be emotionally unavailable, but they can get caught up in the things they want to do, their impulsive actions, and their big plans for adventures, and forget about being there for someone. They will forget they have a partner when they make plans for a trip.
It’s not that Aries are cruel or unkind, but they can be self-focused to the point where they block everybody else out. However, if Aries has suffered a heartbreak, they’ll adopt the attitude of being completely chill and indifferent, though the truth is, they’re as mushy and emotional as everybody else.
