The demigods of Camp Half-Blood took center stage for San Diego Comic Con’s first panel! On Thursday morning, Disney+ brought Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3 to a packed Hall H, marking the official start of the convention’s festivities. Fans were treated to the appearances of series stars Walker Scobell, Aryan Simhadri, Charlie Bushnell, Tamara Smart, Levi Chrisopulos and Olive Abercrombie alongside executive producers Craig Silverstein and Dan Shotz.
The panel gave fans of Rick Riordan’s books much to be excited about, including new footage from Season 3, insights about certain key characters, and much more. Check out some of the most important highlights from the Hall H panel below!
The first three minutes of Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3 were shown to attendees, presenting an early look at what audiences can expect. Given how Season 2 ended on a climactic cliffhanger involving Percy Jackson, Annabeth Chase, and Thalia Grace, the footage that was shown emphasizes Percy’s fears about the Great Prophecy.
In the footage, Thalia Grace could be seen fighting a huge monster in a garage, but Percy accidentally interrupts the battle, trying to save her. The fight itself incorporates a heavy amount of lightning, water, and fire, with some impressive visual effects. After the battle, Annabeth arrives on the scene. Although Percy is hesitant about recruiting her, due to how she can fulfill the Great Prophecy, Annabeth remains steadfast on getting her help. However, Thalia drives away before they can get an answer.
Annabeth also knows about the di Angelo siblings early on, placing this scene in between the events of Season 2 and Season 3. It’s possible that a time-jump could occur between this scene and the trio eventually travelling to Westover Hall to find the di Angelos.
Additionally, with Thalia Grace being more involved in Season 3, it was also confirmed that Smart will be promoted to a series regular. During the panel, Smart also spoke on the position Thalia finds herself at the beginning of Percy Jackson Season 3.
“Thalia is searching for answers when it comes to Luke,” Smart stated. “She’s out of the tree. She’s heard some things and she wants to know what’s going on.”
Percy Jackson Season 3 Will Highlight Annabeth’s Perspective
One of the more important reveals from the Percy Jackson Season 3 panel is in regards to Annabeth. During the panel, it was confirmed that Season 3 will showcase what Annabeth will be going through while she’s captured by Atlas.
“As you know, Annabeth is separated from the group,” Shotz said. “Because we love Annabeth so much, we are gonna open up the world and explore where [Annabeth] is and give a whole new look at this world.”
Riordan’s book, “The Titan’s Curse”, only revealed where Annabeth had been when Percy inevitably discovers how Luke and Atlas trapped her. However, given how the series adapts the books and adds new elements to the story, the inclusion of Annabeth’s perspective will give fans new insight into her dynamic with Luke and Thalia.
For unfamiliar fans, Annabeth, Luke, and Thalia were on the run together, hiding from Hades, Camp Half-Blood, and other godly threats. When Zeus eventually found Thalia and entrapped her in a tree that protected Camp Half-Blood, Luke developed an innate anger against the gods. This would eventually drive him towards Kronos, influencing Luke to serve him.
The inclusion of Annabeth’s view may highlight the anguish that Luke still contains, how Atlas is holding up the world, and other important elements from “The Titan’s Curse”. That said, there’s still much to expect from Season 3, especially with the di Angelos.
Percy Jackson Season 3 Casts Hercules With Secret Actor
During the panel, Silverstein also confirmed that an actor has been cast as Hercules for Percy Jackson Season 3. Although fans know about Hercules’ involvement with other demigods in “The Heroes of Olympus” books, the Greek hero has an introductory role to play this season.
In “The Titan’s Curse”, Percy dreamt about Hercules’ labors and discovered that Zoë Nightshade, a Hunter of Artemis, gave him the ideas for his quest. Even though Hercules was successful in his mission, he never paid dues to the Hunters, supposedly driven by fear. Percy regarded Hercules as one of his favorite heroes, but this changed with his dream.
Although the actor who’s playing Hercules is still kept under wraps, the addition of Hercules already adds to the numerous godly names of Season 3. It was already confirmed that there will be a huge scene with the Olympian gods, which series guest star Lin-Manuel Miranda previously teased to Nerdtropolis. Hercules’ inclusion will certainly be another interesting element for Season 3 to explore.

To wrap up the panel, Disney+ dropped an announcement video for Percy Jackson Season 3, officially announcing the November premiere date. Furthermore, the series regulars for Season 3 were also announced, including Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, Aryan Simhadri, Charlie Bushnell, Tamara Smart and Levi Chrisopulos.
The stakes are higher than ever before as Percy is faced with the sudden disappearance of Annabeth and the impending Great Prophecy provided by the Oracle of Delphi, dictating the fate of Olympus. As foretold by the Oracle of Delphi, one demigod child of the “Big Three” is fated to raise Olympus to new heights or bring it crashing into ruin, with their own life hanging in the balance.
