MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) -The MAX hosted the Hall of Fame awards ceremony at the MSU Riley Center to celebrate the inductee’s achievements.
Bobbie Gentry, Shelby Foote, William Ferris, Natasha Trethewey, Mac McAnally, and Marty Gamblin were honored, and many from around the Queen City came out to celebrate their accomplishments.
Meridian Mayor Jimmie Smith says that the MAX holds a lot of futuristic artists and opportunities for young people.
“There are a lot of futuristic artists participating in education opportunities for young people to learn about music and things of that nature. I think this particular program today has been just super. You know, I think that this is one of those nuggets in our community that we oftentimes forget that we have, and we need to be reminded of it,” Smith says.
After the ceremony, guests gathered at the MAX for a cocktail reception.
