A recently resurfaced video clip has reignited controversy surrounding actor Ryan Reynolds, as his Deadpool co-star TJ Miller criticizes Reynolds’ on-set behavior.
The renewed attention comes in the wake of a lawsuit involving Reynolds’ wife, Blake Lively, and her co-star Justin Baldoni.
In the 2022 interview from The Adam Corolla Show, now circulating widely online, comedian Miller, who portrayed Weasel in Deadpool, alleges that he experienced tension and unkind treatment from Reynolds during filming.
He recounts to the host: “As the character, he was, like, horrifically mean to me.”
Miller goes on to describe an incident from the shooting of the sequel, where Reynolds allegedly told him: “But to me. As if I’m Weasel.
Despite this, Miller states he harbors no resentment towards Reynolds, even though he wouldn’t choose to work with him again.
He concludes: “I sorta wish him well, because he’s so good at Deadpool, and I think it’s weird that he hates me,”
“I don’t wish them any ill will. I think [Ryan] should make a Deadpool 3 and continue to make movies. I just think he doesn’t like me, and I thought it was weird how he expressed that. I don’t wish them any ill will. I think [Ryan] should make a Deadpool 3 and continue to make movies. I just think he doesn’t like me, and I thought it was weird how he expressed that.”
This statement came about a month after Ryan Reynolds announced his collaboration with Hugh Jackman on the Deadpool and Wolverine projects.
Miller later revealed that Reynolds had reached out to him following his comments to Adam Corolla.
Speaking on the Jim Norton and Sam Roberts Show, he shared: “It was really cool, he emailed me the next day,’ Miller said. ‘It was a misunderstanding, so I emailed him back and now it’s, like, fine.”
He clarified that his initial remarks were not intended to be negative but rather a reflection on an incident he found “weird”.
Miller had already completed filming for Deadpool 2 when he faced sexual assault allegations in 2017.
The movie was released the following year, around the same time Miller was arrested for allegedly making a false bomb threat on a train. The case was ultimately dismissed.
He also refuted claims of bullying his Silicon Valley co-star, Alice Wetterlund, on set.
Lively, wife of Reynolds, initiated a lawsuit against her It Ends With Us co-star Baldoni last month.
However, Baldoni has now retaliated with his own legal action against Lively and her actor spouse, alleging that they are tarnishing his reputation.
The court documents also assert that Lively’s PR team “escalated the false narrative by telling…[a] reporter that Blake was ‘sexually assaulted’-an unsubstantiated accusation that not even Lively had gone so far as to claim, designed to destroy Baldoni and his reputation.”
