Comedian Peter Kay has been turning heads with his dramatic weight loss, as captured by recent photos that surfaced outside the O2 Arena. He looked strikingly different from his well-known appearances on popular TV shows like Max and Paddy and Car Share.
He’s currently on his Better Late Than Never tour, which marks his return after a lengthy break from public life, and is known for not discussing his private life. Despite this, he hasn’t shied away from incorporating weight loss jokes into his act.
Back in 2020, Peter Kay had a Manchester Arena crowd in stitches as he recounted his experience with Slimming World. He quipped: “If you don’t know what Slimming World is, it’s like Weight Watchers, but a quid cheaper. I went once, Methodist Church Hall in Bolton, all the women were sat around in a semi circle.”
He went on to say: “‘Big round of applause for Debbie, she’s lost a pound’. I said: ‘A pound? I s**t a pound, what’s that? ‘” One pound! Big deal!, reports the Irish Mirror.
The comic genius had audiences in fits of laughter with a routine featuring “Carole in the back”, noting her near-miss on getting a “half-stone sticker” and her diet-breaking fry-up mishap. Peter quipped: “Carol, take the ‘c’ off chips, what do you get? It’s up to you love, I can’t do it for you.”
His sharp wit didn’t stop there; he had the audience howling with his take on office diet trends this time poking fun at an absurd regime involving a “tub of beetroot” and opting to “drink your own p**s” for its alleged detoxifying powers, followed by a comical demonstration of ‘Tracy’ toppling over after supposedly shedding “fourteen stone in a day”.
In the limelight once again, Peter stunned fans with his impressive weight loss journey, stepping out onto the O2 stage looking remarkably trimmer, which was captured in a photo with musician Bryan Edery. That image sent social media into a frenzy, leaving some devotees barely recognising the slimmer star.
While on tour, Peter playfully addressed the audience about his slimmed-down figure, resulting in a burst of comments on Instagram from astonished followers who observed that he looked leaner than ever.
Fans were effusive in their surprise, with one exclaiming: “Amazing photo! How much weight has Peter lost? ! ” Others joined in the chorus of praise, with comments like: “Wow you’ve lost weight, look brilliant” and “Didn’t recognise him.”
Comedian Peter Kay took a break from the public eye after he was forced to cancel his UK tour in 2018 and 2019. At the time, Peter explained in a statement: “Due to unforeseen family circumstances I deeply regret that I am having to cancel all of my upcoming work projects. This unfortunately includes my upcoming stand-up tour, Dance For Life shows and any outstanding live work commitments.”
His new tour is set for February 2025 to February 2026.
