Hailing from the Netherlands, NOME. has worked hard to gain traction within the dance music scene. Between unleashing massive productions in the studio to his incredible live sets from stages and festivals around the world, he has shown that he belongs amongst the best in the industry. With 2025 just beginning, we talked with NOME. about his music, the industry, and of course his label Encoded Music. With his most recent release Arsonist piling up the streams, he has just revealed he will be making his Tomorrowland debut this year so there was plenty to discuss when we connected with him.
- Hello and thank you for joining us! Could you provide us with an insight on the main inspirations/influences that led to your chosen career pathway in music?
My obsession with music started at a really young age. I remember being completely captivated by rock bands like Boston and U2—those powerful guitar riffs and epic melodies just hit differently, you know? I’d spend hours with my headphones on, completely lost in their sound. Thats why I also started playing the guitar as a kid.
But then something shifted. When artists like Hardwell and Afrojack burst onto the scene with their massive hits, it was like a whole new world opened up for me. The energy, the beats, the drops—it was electric! It felt like the perfect blend of emotion and power, and it completely pulled me in.
That’s when I realized I wanted to create music that could move people. Music has been my constant passion ever since!
- With versatility a key aspect of the dance scene, we would like to know how your signature sound came to be, and how it has evolved over time?
Finding my own sound has definitely been a journey. Some people might remember me from a few years back, when I was putting out tech house bootlegs—that was a big part of my early days. But over time, I really wanted to explore more and push myself creatively.
Now, I’m all about blending those old-school, ‘classic EDM’ vibes with a fresh, modern twist, while keeping my house influences front and center. And, of course, I love throwing in a heavy dose of bass to really bring the energy.
My new single, ‘Arsonist’, is the perfect example of what feels authentically me. It’s bold, it’s fresh, and it’s packed with everything I love about dance music. And trust me, this is just the beginning—there’s so much more coming your way!
- Gaining traction for each of your releases, could you talk us through the main process behind each production, as well as the overall message you have set out to convey through your music?
For me, every project starts as a blank canvas. It’s like stepping into a world of endless possibilities. Inspiration often comes from the smallest things—a piece of music I’ve heard, a story someone’s told me, or even a scene from a film that sticks with me. Those little sparks of creativity are where it all begins.
When I’m producing, I love creating a journey for the listener. It’s about building emotion in the break, something that really pulls you in and carries you away for a moment. Then comes the drop—it’s got to hit hard, something that makes you want to move and completely lose yourself on the dancefloor.
At the end of the day, my goal is to create music that connects, whether it’s through energy, emotion, or just that moment of pure joy when the bass hits. That’s the message I want to share every time.
- Supported by elite acts within the dance scene, we would like to know the overall feel behind such recognition, as well as the impact Martin Garrix has had on your career, having released music under his STMPD RCRDS label?
It’s honestly such a huge honor to have my music supported by some of the biggest names in the dance scene. Seeing artists like Martin Garrix, but also so many others, play and support my tracks—it’s something I never take for granted.
Martin Garrix, in particular, has had a massive impact on my career. When he played my track during his set at AMF and his fanbase went wild, it was a moment I’ll never forget. The hype around that track was unbelievable, and to then have it officially released on STMPD RCRDS? That was a dream I never thought would actually come true.
It’s been incredibly motivating to see how far the track has gone, and it’s pushed me to keep aiming higher and making music that really connects with people.
- Delivering the most electrifying of live performances, could you talk us through your most memorable events to date, as well as your own thoughts on making your Tomorrowland debut?
This past year has been absolutely incredible—I’ve been lucky enough to play some unforgettable shows. Ultra Europe was definitely the highlight for me. The energy of that crowd was out of this world, and it’s a memory I’ll cherish forever. But honestly, I also love the smaller events, where the vibe is super intimate, and you can feel the crowd completely losing themselves in the music. Those moments are just as special.
As for Tomorrowland… Wow, it’s honestly a dream come true. Finding out that I’ll be making my debut at the biggest festival in the world this summer was such surreal news. I can’t wait to test out all my new music there and connect with fans who travel from every corner of the globe to be part of that magic. It’s going to be something truly special, and I’m ready to give it everything I’ve got!
- Opening your very own studio, as well as being in the process of founding your own label, ‘Encoded,’ we would like to know your outlook on reaching both of these milestones, and the impact this will have on your career going forward?
Opening my own music studio complex has been a dream come true. It’s a space where I can fully immerse myself in the creative process—whether I’m producing, writing, or collaborating. Partnering with Pinna Acoustics, we focused on every detail, from acoustics to design, to create the perfect sound and vibe. After nearly a year of work, it’s become more than just a studio—it’s a true creative hub, and I couldn’t be prouder.
Starting my own label and publishing company was the next natural step for me. It gives me full creative freedom to explore my sound and release music on my own terms. Beyond that, I want to create a platform for other artists—one where authenticity and creativity take center stage. For me, it’s all about pushing boundaries and building something truly unique.
- With 2025 now in full flow, could you provide us with an insight on what the future holds for NOME, always in terms of new music, upcoming collaborations and live performances?
In 2025, my main focus is on building and expanding my club profile on a global scale. I’m really excited to bring the energy of my music to new audiences at clubs and festivals worldwide, creating unforgettable moments and connecting with fans on a deeper level. For me, it’s all about sharing that vibe and making every show an experience to remember.
I’ve also got some incredible projects in the pipeline. I’m currently working on a collaboration with Ownboss, which is shaping up to be something really special—I can’t wait for people to hear it. On top of that, I’m collaborating with even more big names in the industry, which has been an amazing experience and a chance to push myself creatively. Beyond collaborations, I’ve been diving into new releases that explore fresh ideas and influences. And with some exciting shows on the horizon, I’m looking forward to what’s ahead. This year is all about growth, innovation, and connecting with the global dance music community.
