Puma Blue returns with new single ‘tapestry’.
The South London born, Atlanta based is a potent talent, emerging alt-soul, jazz, and other late night sounds with his probing sense of lyrical introspection.
2023 album ‘Holt Waters’ continued his journey, with the dank, immersive soundscapes recalling Portishead of Tricky in their affecting malevolence.
Out now on boutique label Blue Flowers, new single ‘tapestry’ continues his journey – a song about loss, it also looks to permanence and the commonalities in our lives.
Rooted in the understated emotion of his vocal, ‘tapestry’ has a singular feel, attached to the broader currents of his work while also separate.
Puma Blue comments…
“We lose things, things we think we’ll have forever. It can devastate the fabric of our reality. I wrote this song to someone I lost who taught me a lot, someone I counted on having much more time with. I only recorded ‘tapestry’ as one writes in a journal, without intention to share it with anyone, just a private expression. But with a little nudge from my friends, here I am again, offering my whispers to the wind.”
A self-directed music video accompanies the song, with Puma Blue adding: “I wanted the video to feel like a found-footage tape, but from my subconscious…”
“A stumble through dark woods, crossing paths with familiar figures and ghosts, real and imagined. There are hidden easter egg moments, some that might only click for a few who know me best.”
Tune in now.
