Fans have urged Meghan Markle to stick to her current plan of staying silent over the brutal claims made in a recent Vanity Fair article.
The article, which was released by the publication on January 17, was titled ‘Inside Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Big Business Ambitions, 5 Years After Their Royal Exit’.
Vanity Fair’s article discussed fresh bullying allegations against Meghan – as well as claiming that Harry would be happy with his wife to be the one to “make all of the money for the family”. The Duchess has previously denied bullying allegations made against her but has not responded to the recent article.
In a poll, which ran by Express.co.uk between 12.20pm on January 27 to 12pm on January 28, readers were asked whether they believe Meghan should speak out about the claims made in the article – or whether she should stay silent.
The results showed that 33 percent [78 votes] shared that they believe Meghan should speak out – compared to that of 62 percent [148 votes] that said she should not publicly say anything.
Some readers remained unsure, with five percent [13 votes] sharing that they are not sure what the former actress should do.
Both Meghan and Prince Harry have decided to stay silent and not respond to the allegations, although reports have suggested they were left “upset” over the article. In the past, the couple vehemently denied allegations that Meghan had bullied staff.
Recently speaking to Sky News Australia about the article, royal expert Kinsey Schofield said: “It is my understanding that they are upset over it [and] I’m being told that things aren’t good for them right now… and here comes a very respected publication reiterating some of the nastiest claims about her.”
Speaking on a recent episode of A Right Royal Podcast, Royal PR expert and former communications secretary to the late Queen, Ailsa Anderson, suggested that this is a wise move as it would only “add more fuel to the fire”.
