Kid Rock has always been very vocal about his support for very-soon-to-be Donald Trump. Considering how many other artists have stepped forward with their support for him, he’s decided to comment on it.
Neutral artists, such as Carrie Underwood, and anti-Trump artists, like Snoop Dogg, have stepped up to perform in Trump’s honor. This, naturally, has upset many left-leaning fans who are upset that their idols are supporting someone they disagree with.
It’s been extreme in Carrie Underwood’s case. Ex-fans have taken to the comment section of American Idol social media to demand she be fired from the season.
Yesterday, Kid Rock shared some light on the phenomenon of artists showing their support when at Fox News. “[Celebrities] feel it’s safe to go in the water after dipping their toe in it for four to eight years,” Kid Rock said.
“I mean, welcome to the party, like I’ve said. Better to have them on board than not,” which feels like a reply to some disgruntled MAGA supporters who don’t accept people supporting Trump after he won.
“You can just tell there’s a whole change in the air.”
Kid Rock Says That Celebrities Feel It’s Safer To Support Trump Now
Considering how celebrities live and die by their fans, it’s natural that they may be hesitant to show their views. After all, it’s unwise to alienate around half of your fandom who got you to where you are.
However, with Trump winning the popular vote and being elected president, it’s no wonder secret Trump supporters feel like they can comfortably support him. After all, they know that the majority of their fans will stay. And hell, they may even garner new fans.
Many have expressed their disappointment online over the artists who support Trump, but I don’t think that’ll be a particular stain on their record for the next four years at least, considering who’ll be in charge. Not unless Trump tanks it and gives all his supporters a bad name, anyway.
At least Kid Rock is welcoming all the new Trump-supporting celebrities.
