Prince William paid a visit to Lower Blakemere Farm on the Duchy of Cornwall estate on Tuesday – with one thing about the royal surprising a member of the farming team there.
Heather Gorringe, who with her husband Phil has been a Duchy tenant farmer since 2000, opened up about meeting William.
Speaking to PEOPLE, Heather said: “He’s such a nice guy, isn’t he?”, before adding that she didn’t realise quite how tall he is.
Discussing William – who stands at six foot two in height – she added: “He seems really down to earth – and miles taller than I ever imagined. And he loved the worms, so that was really great.”
Heather also took the time to reminisce about the time she previously met William and King Charles at St James’s Palace.
Praising the two for their work in farming, she said: “It’s a new generation. We went to the handover between King Charles and the prince at St. James’s Palace, and it struck me that they were different in the sense that, for King Charles, farming is in his blood. He is a farmer.
“But, having met Prince William on the farm today, I can see how important the Duchy is to him, and also that he is committed to a sustainable future.”
Speaking of other work that William is currently doing, she added: “You only have to look at what he’s doing with the Earthshot Prize to know he’s on that route,” she continues. “The things we are doing here are up his street.”
A day prior, William was joined by the Princess of Wales in paying respects at the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the Holocaust.
Kate, 43, and William, 42, met around 50 survivors of the Nazi campaign and survivors of subsequent genocides at a reception at London’s Guildhall on Monday afternoon.
During the appearance, William revealed their desire to teach their children – Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6 – about the Holocaust.
Speaking to one of the attendees, William said: “George is getting to the age where he’s starting to understand things. So it’s getting interesting to talk to him about what happened.”
