Post-hardcore champions Poison the Well are gearing up to begin their 25th anniversary tour to celebrate the release of their landmark album, The Opposite of December… A Season of Separation.
While the news of the tour and the full album performance reignited the love among fans and diehards of the band, the renewed interest resonated with a new base of fans that were just discovering the impact of the Florida heavy hitters.
While simultaneously celebrating their accomplishments and revisiting their timeless work, the band is now planning for the future with the news of their recent signing to SharpTone Records. Along with aligning with a new record label, Poison the Well has begin a new chapter in their storied career, delivering their first entry of new music in 15 years.
“Trembling Level” serves as the band’s first offering via SharpTone and underscores the band’s unmistakable sound signature – driven by the aggressive guitars of Ryan Primack, the percussive force of Chris Hornbrook on drums and the savage screams of Jeff Moreira on vocals. Rounded out with the addition ofbassist Noah Harmon and guitarist Vadim Taver, the band has achieved a new creative stride.
Guitarist Ryan Primack spoke about the daunting task of keeping the band’s sound fresh, while still maintaining the integrity of the PTW sound. “For me, I was trying to figure how to effectively incorporate elements from our whole discography into one song. We ended up with this, and it has a little bit of everything we’ve done throughout the course of our existence.”
“Lyrically, it’s about tackling a fear,” says vocalist Jeff Moreira. “I tend to write based on personal experience. You’re approaching something you’re scared to do, going through it, and realizing the hardest parts are actually the ones you should be looking towards because those will lead you to success.”
Like the release of the newest single, the next era of the band follows a 15 year stretch that saw no new material and no extended touring. In 2025, the band has not only issued new music, they are also preparing to hit the stage for their first extended tour in just as much time on what has become one of the most anticipated live events of the year.
“For me, The Opposite of December… represents everything I absorbed as a teenager: the shows, the music, the raw energy of hardcore and punk. I never imagined that record would still resonate 25 years later. Seeing people continue to connect with it inspires me every day, and I’m so grateful for the opportunities this band has given me,” says singer Jeff Moreira.
“This upcoming tour is so much more than just a series of shows. It’s a celebration of that record, its impact, and the journey we’ve shared together. We’ve worked hard to make it special in every way — from the lineup, featuring Glassjaw, Better Lovers, and Teenage Wrist, to the merch, the setlist, and the production. It’s all about honoring The Opposite of December… and the listeners who’ve supported us through the years.”
Moreira added, “For this to be our first tour in 15 years feels unreal. I can’t wait to celebrate with everyone in April. Open the door for your friend.”
