Sunflower Bean will release new album ‘Mortal Primetime’ on April 25th.
The three-piece have taken the reins for their fourth full-length record, which also their first to be self-produced. Out on April 25th, ‘Mortal Primetime’ blurs the lines between punk and pop, between psychedelic revery and bluntly honest personal revelation.
Built during the three years since prior album ‘Headful Of Sugar’, it’s a record that filters their decade of experience together into one space.
“You get to decide what your prime is, and you fight for it,” bassist and vocalist Julia Cumming says. “This is ours, and that can’t be taken away by circumstance. We can’t take it away from each other. This moment, where we are now, is what we’ve always fought for.”
Out now, new single ‘Champagne Taste’ boasts surging guitar chords, with the preening vocal from Cumming recalling Iggy Pop’s magnificent album ‘The Idiot’.
A song of defiance, ‘Champagne Taste’ finds Sunflower Bean coming roaring back to life. The band explains: “This song came after a period that felt like rock bottom for the band. It is about feeling beaten down but still driving forward, to keep faith, to grow and to continue to create on our own terms, our Mortal Primetime.”
