Kelly Clarkson has been forced to postpone her Las Vegas residency after annoucing her ex husband is “ill.”
The American Idol winner took to Instagram to share the news, explaining she’ll be using this time to be with her children. Kelly and her former husband Brandon Blackstock were married for seven years but split in 2020, beforing divorcing two years later. They share two children together, River, 10, and Remington, eight.
On Wednesday August 6, Kelly shared the news with fans, writing, “Unfortunately, I need to postpone the remainder of the August Studio Session dates in Las Vegas.
“While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them.
“I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding.”
In 2024, Kelly spoke to People, telling the magazine how “extraordinarily hard” the divorce was for her family.
Referencing her album Chemistry, she added, “You feel alone, and it’s just a blessing to be able to have that outlet for those emotions that are overwhelming.”
However, more reecently Kelly has spoken about her relationship with her former husband, telling Kylie Kelce’s on her Not Gonna Lie podcast that she feels there’s a difference between working moms compared to working dads.
“There’s a lot that I keep in because … co-parenting is fun. It’s like, ‘Oh, he couldn’t come because this,’ and I’m like, ‘Okay, cool.’ Do you think I just leave and just sit in the park all day?” she explained.

In previous years, Kelly has also taken Brandon to court. In 2024, after having already won $2 million in a previous case, Brandon and Kelly were back in a legal battle.
This was allegedly due to her ex and his father Narvel Blackstock’s management company Starstruck Entertainment of violating California labor laws.
In the case, she claimed the company was acting as an “unlicensed talent agency” that’s booked business for her since 2007. However, a source later confirmed to Rolling Stone that the case had been settled.
