In any given season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, the vast majority of episodes are pretty self-contained. That said, the two previous seasons each had some interconnected character arcs, and generally, a big season finale teased by previous events. And now, with Season 3, Strange New Worlds is getting ready to do something similar: Set up a bigger storyline that will almost certainly come back later.

Strange New Worlds Season 3, Episode 5 Release Date

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3, Episode 5, “Through the Lens of Time,” will be streaming on Paramount+ on Thursday, August 7, 2025. This is the fourth week of new episodes, but the fifth episode overall because Strange New Worlds Season 3 debuted with two episodes back on July 17.

As with other Paramount+ shows, Strange New Worlds drops new episodes at 12:00 a.m. Pacific Time, which is 3:00 a.m. Eastern Time. So, Season 3, Episode 5, will arrive very early on Thursday morning, or late on Wednesday night, depending on how you look at it.

What is the plot of Strange New Worlds Season 3, Episode 5?

The official synopsis for “Through the Lens of Time” is the following:

“Chapel and Korby’s quest leads the Enterprise to ancient ruins that are hiding a dark secret.”

The “quest” being referenced here is just the fact that Dr. Korby (Cillian O’Sullivan) is an archaeologist interested in ancient alien tech that may or may not have allowed people to live forever. This foreshadows the fact that in The Original Series episode “What Are Little Girls Made Of?”, this character eventually moves his consciousness into a robot body.

At this point, Strange New Worlds is happening at least six years before any of that, so Korby’s short-term fate is unclear. But, make no mistakes, these ancient ruins will be a game-changer, and one you won’t want to miss.
