Brandon Blackstock, the ex-husband of singer Kelly Clarkson, has died.
He was 48.
His rep told NBC in a statement that he died after a years-long battle with cancer.
“It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away,” the statement read. “Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully surrounded by family.
The news comes just a day after Clarkson, who has children River Rose, 11, and Remington Alexander, 8, with Blackstock, postponed her August residency shows in Las Vegas.
“While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them,” she wrote. “I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding.”
Clarkson was set up for her Studio Sessions residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
Her next performance is now set for Nov. 7.
Rolling Stone reported that Clarkson and her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, married in 2013.
Clarkson filed for divorce from Blackstock in 2020, the outlet reported, and it was finalized two years later.
Her fans on X were willing to show her the grace that she asked for.
“Family first!” Rone Jean responded. “Hope all is well! We support you!”
“Kelly take all the time you need darling,” Amy Elden wrote. “We’re sending you lots of love and support and plenty of hugs. Family comes first. We love you darling.”
