Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

COURTING – “THE TWINS (1969)”

Liverpool band Courting are channelling the mid-’00s indie guitar sound on this new single. The band’s Sean Murphy-O’Neill says, “the twins is about only missing something once you’ve lost it. Filling boots, and leftovers.

EMILY A. SPRAGUE – “TOKYO 1”

Following the release of Florist’s fantastic new album Jellywish earlier this year, bandleader Emily A. Sprague has announced a new ambient album, Cloud Time, due out on October 10 via RVNG. The first single is the soaring “Tokyo 1.”

DELIVERY – DEADLINES / OPERATING AT A LOSS (REMIXES)

Australian band Delivery have shared this EP featuring remixes of two songs from this year’s Force Majeure. Jonah Swilley turns the new-wavey “Deadlines” into driving techno while Adult DVD take “Operating at a Loss” and refashion it as an electo jam.

CASS MCCOMBS – “I NEVER DREAM ABOUT TRAINS”

Cass McCombs’ new album Interior Live Oak is out next week, and he’s given us another preview with the melancholy “I Never Dream About Trains.”

AUTHOR & PUNISHER – “TITANIS” (ft. KUNTARI)

One-man industrial metal band Author & Punisher has announced a new album, Nocturnal Birding, due October 3 via Relapse. The first single is the sludgy, bone-crushing “Titanis.”

SATURDAYS AT YOUR PLACE – “WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO?”

Kalamazoo, Michigan emo band Saturdays At Your Place have shared the second single from their anticipated new album These Things Happen, and this one sees the band embracing their softer side until hitting a pretty explosive climax.

LAUFEY – “SNOW WHITE”

“‘Snow White’ is about the never ending chase for perfection that comes with being a woman,” Laufey says of the latest single off her new album A Matter of Time. “It’s about looking in the mirror and seeing all the ways in which you can improve yourself.”

ANYSIA KYM & TONY SELTZER – “SPEEDRUN”

Two NYC artists, singer Anysia Kym and producer Tony Seltzer, have teamed up for a collaborative album, Purity, due September 12 via 10k. Here’s the hazy, sputtering lead single “Speedrun.”

MARIEL BUCKLEY – “SWIM PRACTICE”

Calgary singer/songwriter Mariel Buckley has announced a new album, Strange Trip Ahead, and you can read more about new single “Swim Practice” here.

TRSH – “DUSTY”

Springfield, MO emo band TRSH announced a new album, String Theory, and you can read about lead single “Dusty” here.

OF MONSTERS & MEN – “ORDINARY CREATURE”

Icelandic band Of Monsters and Men announced a new album, All Is Love and Pain in the Mouse Parade, due out on October 17 via Skrimsl ehf/Skarkali/Virgin. They’ve shared “Ordinary Creature,” which they say is “about the feeling of yearning for that someone that brings you comfort. It’s about when you start feeling better after a period of not feeling so great. That moment when you start coming back to yourself again and remembering what it’s like to be an ordinary creature.”

MODERN NATURE – “ALPENGLOW”

“Alpenglow,” Modern Nature’s Jack Cooper notes, “is an optical phenomenon and the name given to the colours around a setting sun. It ties in with the album title in terms of how unseen forces affect the physical world.” New album The Heat Warps will be out August 29.
