Trump pardons reality TV stars Todd and Julie Chrisley

President Trump called Savannah Chrisley from the Oval Office in the White House to tell her he wanted to pardon her parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley.

President Donald Trump is pardoning Todd and Julie Chrisley of “Chrisley Knows Best” fame.

In an X post May 27 from spokesperson Margo Martin, Trump called the Chrisleys’ middle daughter, Savannah Chrisley, to share the news of the impending release.

“It’s a great thing because your parents are going to be free and clean and I hope we can do it by tomorrow,” Trump told the reality TV star and influencer, as his “pardon czar,” Alice Marie Johnson, stood next to him.

In June 2022, Todd and Julie Chrisley, who portrayed themselves as real estate tycoons in the South on their USA Network shows, were found guilty of conspiring to defraud community banks in Atlanta out of more than $36 million in fraudulent loans, defraud the IRS and commit tax evasion. Julie Chrisley was additionally convicted of obstruction of justice and wire fraud.

More: Todd Chrisley and Julie Chrisley released from prison after Trump signs pardon

Todd Chrisley was sentenced to 12 years in prison, while Julie Chrisley received a seven-year sentence. They began their respective sentences in January 2023.

Savannah Chrisley is ‘forever’ grateful for Pres. Trump

Daughter Savannah Chrisley, who spoke at the Republican National Convention in July, celebrated the news in a video she posted to Instagram.

Wearing a gold Make America Great Again cap and several cross necklaces, the 27 year old started her video by announcing she is “freaking out over here.”

“I have shed so many tears. The president called me personally as I was walking into Sam’s Club and notified me that he was signing pardon paperwork for both my parents,” she said. “So both my parents are coming home tonight or tomorrow. And I still don’t believe it’s real.”

She added, “The fact that the president called me — I will forever be grateful for President Trump, his administration and everyone along the way.”

Savannah revealed she was preparing to pick up her parents by readying the house for their return.

“We’re getting some clothes together for mom and dad, getting their room put together upstairs, and I’m just speechless. I can’t thank you guys enough for sticking with my family along the way and for loving us and supporting us,” she said.

“My parents get to start their lives over,” she continued. “President Trump didn’t just commute their sentences. He gave them a full, unconditional, pardon. So for that I am forever grateful.

“Thank you, President Trump. I vow to stand next to you and your administration and exposing the corruption and continue fighting for the men and women that are in prison. I will repay your kindness to every person I meet. Thank God for a president like Donald J. Trump.”

Attorney: ‘Todd and Julie were targeted because of their conservative values’

“This pardon corrects a deep injustice and restores two devoted parents to their family and community,” the Chrisleys’ attorney, Alex Little, said in a statement shared with USA TODAY. “President Trump recognized what we’ve argued from the beginning: Todd and Julie were targeted because of their conservative values and high profile,” Little added and went on to claim the couple’s “prosecution was tainted by multiple constitutional violations and political bias.”

His law firm’s press release alleged, “The Chrisleys’ pardon petition detailed serious misconduct by the government, including an illegal raid, reliance on tainted evidence, and a trial that featured false testimony from a key government witness.”

USA TODAY has reached out to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia for comment.

The Chrisley family rose to fame on their USA Network reality show, which chronicled their opulent lifestyle and family business in Atlanta and Nashville with their complicated family dynamics, which included estrangements with their two eldest children, Kyle and Lindsie Chrisley.

How long were the Chrisleys in prison?

Julie Chrisley, 52, has been serving her seven-year prison sentence at the Federal Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. She previously had an expected release date of Jan. 8, 2028, according to a May 21, 2025, Bureau of Prisons record check.

Todd Chrisley has been serving time at FPC Pensacola and was expected to be released April 7, 2032, more than two years before his original 12-year sentence was supposed to end.

“Chrisley Knows Best” aired on USA Network for 10 seasons, from 2014 through 2023. “Growing Up Chrisley,” a spin-off featuring the couple’s adult children, Chase and Savannah Chrisley, went on for four seasons after its 2019 premiere.
