Senior royal raises eyebrows with X-rated outfit ‘no other princess would wear’

A royal family member in Denmark has sparked debate after wearing a striking T-shirt at a music festival, as it was emblazoned with some pretty strong language

A senior member of the royal family in Denmark has sparked debate after wearing a T-shirt with a sweary logan to a concert.

Queen Mary and King Frederik‘s eldest daughter, Princess Isabella, rocked a very casual outfit at a popular local music festival Smukfest, in Skanderborg on Thursday.

The princess, who recently celebrated her 18th birthday, was photographed enjoying the event with her friends looking brilliantly care-free. Her older sibling Prince Christian, 19, was also in attendance, but it was Isabella’s grungy band tee that caught the attention of royal watchers in Denmark.

Isabella was seen sporting a bright orange bucket had and a black T-shirt with a slogan that translates to “F***** him yesterday”.

The top is merch from Suspekt, a Danish hip-hop group known for their dark and intense lyrics. Their lyrics are known to be brash, violent and sometimes sexual, and the slogan on Isabella’s top is a take on the band’s song titled “F****** her yesterday”.

Isabella’s outfit choice raised eyebrows with some Danish commentators, Newsau reports, with political commentator Jarl Cordua arguing that there are “limits” to “appropriate” royal ettiquette.

“I’m in favour of the royals letting loose a little. They always have. They should definitely be allowed to. BUT. There are limits,” he said.

“We’ll probably live with that shirt, but I wouldn’t recommend making it a habit. Being royal is an obligation. And it’s probably time for someone to tell her [Isabella] that.”

But others argued that it was a breath of fresh air to see a royal break normal conventions.

Danish TV presenter Jim Lyngvild argued: “It shows that there is a new king who has, in many ways, an ordinary family that represents today’s values.

“The time of the ladies in the hat is over, Princess Isabella is in. I LOVE that our royal youngsters also have personality and courage – and don’t follow the neat pleated flow. There are no other princesses in the world who would dare to do that.”

It comes as another royal outfit ruffled feathers this week, but much closer to home. Sarah Ferguson appeared to send a striking message with her shoe choice, following bombshell allegations of her wild spending and infidelity in an explosive new book.

The Duchess of York took to Instagram to post a picture of herself at a book signing event for her romantic novel, Her Heart for a Compass – hours after claims in a new biography about her and her ex-husband, Prince Andrew’s chaotic and controversial lifestyle, including how she had debts totaling hundreds of thousands of pounds paid off by the late Queen after living a life of “opulent excess”

In her latest snap posted to her Instagram account, she wore a pair of shoes at the event last month with a saying often attributed to the Royal Family and the late Queen. Her slipper-style navy shoes had ‘Never Complain’ and ‘Never Explain’ embroided on them.

The mantra is well-known to be something that the Royal Family has adopted for decades – and something the late Queen appeared to have lived by during her 70-year reign.
