Chamber Music Columbus is picking up the tempo — one might even say gaining momentum — as the group gears up for the opener of its 78th season.
Continuing the organization’s partnership with VIVO Music Festival, the season will get underway with a performance by VIVO titled “Momentum” at 3 p.m. Aug. 31 at the Southern Theatre, 21 E. Main St.

The concert will start on a lively note, with Aaron Jay Kernis’ “100 Greatest Dance Hits,” a postmodern piece for guitar and string quartet exploring the gamut of dance styles in four movements.
Chamber Music Columbus will welcome its 78th season with “Momentum,” a concert by VIVO, on Aug. 31. The season’s five performances will take place at the Southern Theatre.
Following Ottorino Respighi’s interpretation of Percy Bysshe Shelley’s gothic poem, “The Sunset,” VIVO will close with Felix Mendelssohn’s String Octet featuring the first-ever VIVO NEXT Fellows, cellist Liam Battle and violist Isabella Prater.
Chamber Music Columbus’ 2025-26 season will continue with:
VOCES8 – Grammy-nominated British a cappella octet who recently celebrated their 20th anniversary with the release of their album “Twenty”; 7 p.m. Oct. 25
Leonkoro Quartet – Winners of the 2022 Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition in London, where they were the youngest competitors, with an average age of 24; 4 p.m. Feb. 21, 2026
Le Consort – Parisian quartet specializing in the trio sonata genre of baroque music; 7 p.m. March 14, 2026
Academy of St. Martin in the Fields (ASMF) Woodwind Quartet – Ensemble showcasing the top talent of London’s world-famous ASMF chamber orchestra; 7 p.m. April 18, 2026
General-admission ticket prices for individual concerts start at $17.29. Tickets for youth under 18 and students (including those in college) cost $15, with no ID needed.
A season subscription including tickets for all five performances is offered at three levels, priced according to seating:
Level 1: Huntington Circle (rows A-K; lower boxes) – $245.02
Level 2: Front Orchestra (rows L-N) – $214.99
Level 3: Rear Orchestra (rows O-S including accessible seating, loge, rows A-C) – $185.01
