More details about the death of Kelly Clarkson‘s ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, have been revealed.
In an article published Monday, August 11, the Silver Bow County Coroner, Dan Hollis, told People that the talent manager “passed away peacefully at his home in Butte, Montana on August 7th under hospice care.”
As for Blackstock’s cause of death, Hollis confirmed he died of “natural causes” from his lengthy battle with melanoma.
Hollis also noted that Blackstock — who died at 48 years old — was “surrounded by his family” at the time of his passing.
However, Hollis did not specify whether Clarkson, 43, or her two children — River Rose, 11, and Remington Alexander, 9, whom she shares with Blackstock — were present.

On Wednesday, August 6, the singer-songwriter took to Instagram to alert fans that she would have to postpone the rest of the shows in her Las Vegas residency to tend to her kids.
“While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill,” the American Idol champion wrote on the platform. “At this moment, I need to be fully present for them.”
“I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding,” she added.
The “Since U Been Gone” hitmaker and Blackstock wed in 2013, separated in 2020, and finalized their divorce in 2022.
