Teddi Mellencamp Reveals Why She’s Totally Against Returning To Bravo For A New Season Of ‘RHOBH’

Teddi Mellencamp became a household name when she first began appearing in episodes of Bravo’s “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” in 2017.

Since then, the reality star filmed three seasons, clashed with numerous big personalities, and even appeared on a competition show: “Celebrity Big Brother.”

Years after leaving the show, Mellencamp has been very open about her cancer diagnosis. Now, in a new interview, she’s revealing if she would ever consider showcasing that journey on a future season of the series.

“Yeah, no,” the mother of three said on a new episode of “The Jamie Kern Lima Show,” per PEOPLE. “I’m not somebody that likes to do something when I can’t be good at it.”

Mellencamp’s revelation comes nearly three years after the former “Housewives” star first shared publicly that she had been diagnosed with Stage 2 melanoma in October 2022.

Since then, Mellencamp, 44, has undergone multiple surgeries and treatments to stop the spread. The ongoing health challenges, she explained, is a primary reason she can’t be part of the show right now.

“I feel like my words are a little stuttery sometimes, and it doesn’t mean I’m telling a lie,” she stated. “Some people have to relearn to talk after having these surgeries that I had. The fact that I can do as much as I can do, I’m so blessed for. But it still happens to me, and some days are very bad.”

As she continued, Mellencamp explained that there are a few days when she’s ‘stumbling’ over her own words. “And I would hate to be on a show like that and have somebody think that I was not being honest, and really I was just struggling.”

Mellencamp added that she doesn’t want to put her castmates in a bad spot, speculating that the audience might turn on someone for arguing with a cast member battling cancer.

“I don’t think it would be the best for the cast, and it wouldn’t be the best for me right now,” she added.

Mellencamp’s concerns about how she might be perceived while filming are understandable, considering one of her earlier seasons centered on the infamous “puppygate” scandal and her alleged lies about former co-star Lisa Vanderpump.

The show’s executive producer, Andy Cohen, also held Mellencamp’s feet to the fire during the reunion. On X, formerly known as Twitter, she acknowledged her mistakes, writing, “I know I wasn’t forthcoming about the exact details of doggygate.”

Following the drama of that season, Mellencamp revealed she learned several new details about herself. Her friend, Kyle Richards, also jumped in to defend her during an episode of “Watch What Happens Live.”

“She’s an honest person,” Richards said.

Mellencamp Enjoys Recapping The Show More Than Being On It

Elsewhere, during her podcast appearance, Mellencamp shared another reason why she wouldn’t want to film a new season of “RHOBH,” and it’s because she’s currently recapping the show on her podcast with “Real Housewives of Orange County” star Tamra Judge.

According to Mellencamp, being a commentator on the show is much better for her than being a cast member. However, that doesn’t mean she’s ruling out a return to TV completely.

As she put it, “I would love to be on TV in some capacity.”

And a potential “RHOBH” return wasn’t the only thing Mellencamp opened up about on “The Jamie Kern Lima Show.”

In a previous episode, covered by The Blast, the reality star discussed the alleged affair she had with her horse trainer while she was married to her ex-husband, Edwin Arroyave.

Mellencamp went on to say that she never addressed her alleged relationship with him head-on for the sake of her children. However, she hinted that she was involved in something that had hurt other people close to her.

She also tearfully shared her fear that her alleged past behavior is the reason she’s now dealing with cancer. “Yes, like it was my payback,” she said, adding that “nothing goes without payment.”
