This Day in History: August 12, 2004

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – On this day in history, one of the biggest and messiest music events ever took place in Vermont.

Phish fans flocked to the Northeast Kingdom on August 12, 2004.

It was supposed to be the band’s final performances, and fans came from near and far.

So many people headed to the state airport in Coventry that traffic was backed up for miles.

It led some people to abandon their cars on the interstate and walk.

However, that wasn’t the only trouble. Heavy rain turned the concert and camping grounds into a muddy mess.

On stage, the show went on, and nothing could spoil the enjoyment of the Phish faithful.

Of course, the band wasn’t finished. They reunited in 2009 and still tour today.
