The 2025 New York Film Festival has unveiled its full Spotlight lineup including the world premieres of Ben Stiller’s Nothing Is Lost documentary about his parents, Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara, Rebecca Miller’s Mr. Scorsese and Daniel Day-Lewis’ acting return in son Ronan Day-Lewis’ Anemone. In addition, the section will feature the U.S. premiere of Sepideh Farsi’s Put Your Soul on Your Hand and Walk, the Palestinian subject of which was killed in an Israeli air strike earlier this year.
Ben Stiller’s Stiller & Meara: Nothing Is Lost, set to be released by Apple Original Films on Oct. 17, uses archival recordings, footage and letters as well as interviews with friends and collaborators of the late couple to tell the story of the elder Stiller and Meara’s groundbreaking comedy duo as well as the challenges and insecurities of a showbiz family.

Additionally, Miller’s Martin Scorsese docuseries, Mr. Scorsese, which is set to premiere on Apple TV+ Oct. 17 in five parts, will screen in its entirety as a cinematic experience in its world premiere at the 2025 NYFF. Ronan Day-Lewis’ directorial debut Anemone will also receive its world premiere at the festival. The Northern-England set family drama written by father and son and featuring the elder Day-Lewis’ first role in eight years after his announced retirement following 2017’s Phantom Thread, follows a middle-aged man (Sean Bean) on his journey into the woods where he reconnects with his estranged hermit brother (Daniel Day-Lewis). In addition to Bean and the elder Day-Lewis, Anemone also stars Samuel Bottomley, Safia Oakley-Green and Samantha Morton.
The Focus Features film, produced by Plan B Entertainment, is set for release in select theaters on Oct. 3.
In addition to these titles, the Spotlight section (consisting of 12 features and nine short films across two programs) will feature the New York premieres of Richard Linklater’s Blue Moon and Nouvelle Vague as well as Rebecca Zlotowski’s dark comedy-mystery A Private Life / Vie privée, starring Jodie Foster in her first performance entirely in French.
The NYFF announced yesterday that its Spotlight Gala selection is Scott Cooper‘s Bruce Springsteen biopic, Deliver Me From Nowhere, starring Jeremy Allen White as the iconic musician.
The festival previously announced its currents lineup and main slate, including its opening-night film, Luca Guadagnino’s Julia Roberts starrer After the Hunt, which also features Ayo Edebiri and Andrew Garfield; centerpiece film Jim Jarmusch’s Father Mother Sister Brother; and closing night film Bradley Cooper’s Is This Thing On?
Additional highlights from the 34-film main slate include Jafar Panahi’s Cannes’ Palme d’Or winner It Was Just an Accident, Kathryn Bigelow‘s A House of Dynamite, Noah Baumbach‘s George Clooney and Adam Sandler starrer Jay Kelly, Kelly Reichardt‘s The Mastermind, the Laura Poitras- and Mark Obenhaus-directed Seymour Hersh documentary Cover-Up, and Mary Bronstein’s Rose Byrne and Conan O’Brien starrer If I Had Legs I’d Kick You.
The 63rd New York Film Festival, presented by Film at Lincoln Center, is set to run Sept. 26 to Oct. 13.
