Charlie Sheen is ready to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.
In the new two-part Netflix documentary aka Charlie Sheen, coming out on September 10, filmmaker Andrew Renzi covers the actor’s wild ride, told through the voices of friends, family members and colleagues like Denise Richards, Heidi Fleiss, Jon Cryer, Sean Penn, Ramon Estevez, Brooke Mueller, Chris Tucker, and yep, his former drug dealer Marco.
Sheen, 59 and now now seven years sober, is also a willing participant in the doc, speaking freely about not just the darker parts of his life, but also about his wonderful childhood growing up in Malibu and life as a megawatt celebrity in the ’80s and ’90s, before he became a tabloid fixture for his drug use and volatile personal life.
According to a Netflix statement, Renzi (who also directed Pepsi, Where’s My Jet?) “the most outrageous moments of Sheen’s life are revisited with raw emotion and exceptional warmth, painting a portrait of a flawed man whose penchant for self-destruction is ultimately no match for the ferocious love and forgiveness he inspires in those closest to him.”

The documentary comes out the day after Sheen’s highly anticipated memoir The Book of Sheen (Simon & Schuster) is released.

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE in 2023, Sheen said that these days, he’s happier than ever, just being a dad and getting back into the business. He noted that his life is a far cry from the days when he was drunk all day, smoking crack, and ruining relationships left and right.
“I’m proud of the choices that I’ve made and the changes I’ve made to live a life today that will never look like that mess,” he said of his former ways. “That was some alien version of myself.”
