The Reading Royals announced that they’ve re-signed forward Yvan Mongo for the 2025-26 season. Mongo, 28, is coming off an injury-shortened season where he didn’t make his season debut until March 14th. In 15 games at the end of the regular season, he put up two goals and five assists for seven points. He had one assist in four games during the Kelly Cup Playoffs. Mongo is the seventh forward and ninth player signed by the Royals for the 2025-26 season.

The Gatineau, Quebec native is entering his fourth season in the ECHL, all of which have been with Reading. In 110 games, he’s put up 24 goals and 34 assists for 58 points. Mongo would put up a goal and an assist in nine games during the 2023 Kelly Cup Playoffs.

“I am really excited to be back in Reading and play meaningful hockey,” stated Mongo. “It’s going to be an exciting season and I can’t wait to see the fans at Santander Arena in November.”

Prior to going pro, Mongo spent time in the QMJHL and USports. In 234 games in the QMJHL with the Blainville-Boisbrand Armada and Drummondville Voltiguers, he would put up 52 goals and 69 assists for 121 points. He would add 11 goals and 20 assists for 33 points in 61 QMJHL Playoff games.

After finishing up in the Q, Mongo headed to USports, where he played three seasons with the University of Ottawa. In 72 games with the Gaels, he would put up 20 goals and 32 assists for 52 points. He would add three goals and an assist in four playoff games. Mongo spent his last two seasons as the captain of the Gaels. He was named to the OUA All-Rookie Team 2019 and the OUA Far East All-Star Game in 2022.
