The third round of voting to determine Elvis Presley’s best song has come to a close, and the field of eight has been cut down to our final four.
With the annual Elvis Week festivities underway, The Commercial Appeal decided to turn to you, our readers/Elvis fans, to determine the top track by the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll.
Adopting a March Madness-style competition to determine Elvis’ best track, we started with 32 songs facing off in randomly generated matchups. The first two rounds saw some close battles, while the quarterfinals generated rather more lopsided wins.
“Suspicious Minds” trounced “Return to Sender.”
“Love Me Tender” was the decisive victor against “Heartbreak Hotel.”
“Are You Lonesome Tonight” cruised past “It’s Now or Never.”
ADVERTISEMENT“Can’t Help Falling in Love” beat out “Jailhouse Rock.”
Semifinals voting will open up on Aug. 18 — matchups will be revealed then. You can vote up to once per hour.
