Riley Green tried to called timeout on a brawl that broke out between two women at his recent concert in Estero, Florida and it was caught on film.
The country music star was in the middle of singing Toby Keith’s “Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue” when he spotted the violence breaking out. His response was pretty darned funny.
“Hey, listen, if y’all want to fight, let’s wait til we get done singing about America,” he said mid-song. “We’ll all go out back and beat the (expletive) out of each other. But just for a minute, we can unite.”
It turns out, that didn’t really put an end to things, and Green tried to settle it once more. Parade reported that the second time, Green stepped away from the microphone.
“Well, we haven’t got it figured out yet, hang on,” he said a few more bars into the song. “We were close. I thought we were united for a second.
“Hey, listen, y’all got too many extensions to be fighting like that,” he continued. “Y’all gonna pull everything out. Listen. What’s the problem? Whose got an issue? Are you good now? All right, well, just stay right there and enjoy yourselves. This will be fun.”
After the song, Green told the crowd he was staying closer to the pit, per Parade.
“I think I’m going to stay right here like a parent-teacher conference,” he said. “Keep an eye on y’all.”
Apparently, with Green keeping a closer eye on things, the drama died down in the audience and the show was able to go on.
