Marvel Studios has revealed the Disney+ release date for Thunderbolts*.

Thunderbolts* will begin streaming on Disney+ on August 27.
In Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts*, a group of antiheroes reluctantly form a new superhero team. The group consists of Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), Red Guardian (David Harbour), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), and John Walker (Wyatt Russell).

“After finding themselves ensnared in a death trap set by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, these disillusioned castoffs must embark on a dangerous mission,” the official synopsis reads. “Forced to confront the darkest corners of their pasts, will this dysfunctional group tear themselves apart or find redemption and unite before it’s too late?”
The rest of the ensemble includes Lewis Pullman as Robert “Bob” Reynolds/Sentry/Void, Geraldine Viswanathan as Mel, Chris Bauer as Holt, Wendell Pierce as Gary, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine.
At the end of the MCU movie, the Thunderbolts were rebranded as the New Avengers. In the post-credits scene, the New Avengers spotted a spacecraft with a “4” on the side entering Earth’s atmosphere. The ship belongs to the Fantastic Four.
Released in May 2025, Thunderbolts* grossed $74.3 million in its domestic opening weekend. Thunderbolts* finished its theatrical run with a worldwide total of $382 million on a budget of $180 million.
Directed by Jake Schreier, Thunderbolts* received mostly positive reviews, with many critics saying the unlikely team-up movie was a step in the right direction for Marvel.
Several of the Thunderbolts have already been confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday, including Stan, Pugh, Harbour, Pullman, and John-Kamen. In Doomsday, the New Avengers are expected to team up with the original X-Men, Fantastic Four, Wakandans, and the Avengers to take on Doctor Doom. Robert Downey Jr. returns to Marvel to play Doom.
Avengers: Doomsday opens in theaters on December 18, 2026.
