‘X-Men 97’ Writer Beau DeMayo Addresses ‘Final Straws’ With Kevin Feige and MCU

Ousted X-Men 97 writer Beau DeMayo has slammed Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios for allegedly failing to support the animated series.

Earlier this year, it was reported that Marvel terminated DeMayo for “egregious misconduct,” allegedly involving the screenwriter having an OnlyFans account.

Upon his firing, DeMayo took to his Instagram Story to reveal that his X-Men 97 credits for the second season had been “stripped,” calling it a “troubling pattern” that had followed him through his work on the upcoming action thriller Blade.

But when an X follower asked about DeMayo’s “faith” in Marvel Studios’ ‘Mutant Saga’, the writer answered candidly in a lengthy thread. Among his complaints were that fictional characters from the Fox franchise were deceased, but were being resurrected to “manufacture artificial interest” to generate interest after the Feige and the MCU’s alleged “decade long flailing of frequent failures.”

“Like, I don’t mean to be a hater, but who looks at this and says this is the care and respect and serious thinking that the X-Men characters deserve?” DeMayo wrote. “Hell, who looks at this and says this is competent leadership from a studio that is in no way alarming?”

Along with his complaints about the revived ‘Mutant’ storyline, DeMayo also protested the studios’ lack of supporting X-Men 97, claiming that the Marvel Studios president and his “vaunted Parliment” didn’t attend the show’s premiere.

DeMayo also said one of the “final straws” for him was Marvel Studios rejecting to throw an X-Men 97 wrap party, which the showrunner says he paid $7,000 for out of pocket.

In another instance, DeMayo claimed that Feige was threatened that X-Men 97 was used a “referendum” on how the MCU could be improved.

“Remember, I was told by a TOP exec at Marvel last year that Kevin resented my work and the show because FANS like you were using it as a referendum on how Kevin’s MCU is failing,” DeMayo wrote, alleging that his firing was also personal.

“Even internally, before the show aired, Marvel employees were reaching out to me asking how I was able to make a show this good given where the studio was, and how it’s the best thing the studio had done,” DeMayo wrote. “With their praise I noticed more and more that I was becoming a threat and regret to studio leadership.”

As the thread continued, DeMayo was attacked about his OnlyFans account, which he responded to with a statement video regarding his firing, which he posted in February.

Despite DeMayo’s claims that Feige resented the unexpected success of X-Men 97, season two of the series is slated to air next year.
