Influencers Stacey Tourout and Matthew Yeomans lived a life full of love and adventure before they unexpectedly died in August 2025.
The pair, who ran the YouTube account Toyota World Runners, built their own custom rig to drive from Canada to South America. They were involved in a fatal accident on August 7 after their vehicle rolled more than 600 feet down in the West Kootenay region in British Columbia.
The pair’s Communication Manager Mark Jennings-Bates told People on August 15 that Tourout initially survived the accident, but later died in the hospital. Yeomans did not display any vital signs when rescuers arrived at the scene.
On August 10 Tourout’s mother, Colleen, shared the news of their deaths via Facebook. “With unimaginable heartache, the families of Matthew Peter Yeomans and Stacey Tourout would like to advise that we lost them both tragically succumbing to injuries in an offroad accident on Aug 7, 2025 in the beautiful mountains of British Columbia that they loved so much,” she wrote in part.

December 2021
The pair celebrated Boxing Day — a public holiday observed by the Commonwealth nations, including Canada and Australia, the day after Christmas — together on December 26, 2021. “Happy Boxing Day! I hope you were all able to spend quality time with those you love,” Yeomans captioned a series of photos from the holiday celebration, including a photo of himself smiling at Tourout as the pair stood together in front of a Christmas tree.

In 2022 Yeomans and Tourout began building a vehicle they intended to live in. On November 28, 2022, Yeomans shared a photo via Facebook of the pair in front of the rig and captioned it, “On Thursday Stacey and I move into the rig we’ve been building for the last 4 months. If you want to come say goodbye or see the rig before we head out on our Odyssey to South America, we’ll be at the Beban Plaza in Nanaimo tomorrow from 6:30-8pm. Come through! I’d love to see some smiling faces.”
October 2023
Yeomans and Tourout set off on a monumental drive from Canada to Colombia in the rig they built together. On October 9, 2023, Yeomans shared a photo via Facebook of the vehicle parked on a bridge and offered an update: “27,750 kms and 10 months. We have driven from Nanaimo, Canada to Medellin, Colombia. Wild! In every sense of the word. Still have an entire continent to explore!”

Yeomans proposed to Tourout in April 2024, news the pair announced in a joint post via Facebook on April 28. “Two truly monumental dreams came true today,” Yeomans began the post. “I waited a long time for this exact moment. Rehearsed it in my mind for years. After our first date I knew I could spend my life with this girl. Driving the length of the Americas in a rig that we built has made us into a remarkable team. Proven.”
“We both knew when we woke up last Sunday that we would arrive in El Chalten, the town below Mt. Fitz Roy. It’s been the compass for us since we got to South America,” he continued. “Something incredible happened 10 days ago to get us 1,300 kms, through a lengthy off-road route and a remote border crossing to reach this point during the perfect time of the year in a small good weather window.”
“The Chinook felt like it had twice the power and half the weight driving up to this spot as the sun was setting,” he added. “After 16 months and 16 countries we made it here, to the mountain which was on my vision board in my bachelor pad for years. AND, I asked Stacey to be my forever! The moment was perfectly US.”
Yeomans added that he left the actual engagement ring in Canada, but “figured drawing it on with Sharpie would make a good story to tell our future kids.”
“My journal entry: ‘The moment of proposal came like a firefly, but the feeling after lasted like the hot wax of a thousand candles,’” he added. “Oh, she said YES.”

Tourout and Yeomans were involved in a fatal car accident on August 7 in Canada.
On August 10 Tourout’s mother, Colleen, announced via Facebook that Stacey and Yeomans had died after the accident. “Please keep us and them in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate this devastating end to an amazing Love Story,” she wrote. “They are together forever as we knew they would always be.”
