August 20, 2025 – Last weekend, at the grand finale of the 13th annual Savannah VOICE Festival (SVF), the nonprofit organization announced details of its forthcoming 14th season. The next season, themed “Sunny Days and Starry Nights”, will be held from Aug. 6-16, 2026 in various locations around The Hostess City.

The 14th season of the Savannah VOICE Festival will feature famous opera “The Magic Flute” that will be performed in German but with English super titles. “The Magic Flute” (Die Zauberflöte) is a two-act opera by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, first performed in 1791. It’s part fairy tale, part allegory, mixing comedy, romance, and deep moral themes. The story follows Prince Tamino, who is tasked with rescuing Princess Pamina from the sorcerer Sarastro. Along the way, he’s aided by the bird-catcher Papageno and a magical flute whose music can calm any heart. The opera blends fantastical creatures, trials of courage and wisdom, and a tug-of-war between the Queen of the Night’s vengeance and Sarastro’s enlightened brotherhood. It’s famous for its enchanting arias—especially the Queen’s dazzling, high-flying coloratura pieces—and its mix of whimsy and profound philosophy.

In addition to Mozart’s masterpiece, the Festival will offer iconic moments from great American operas in a special AMERICAN OPERA concert. Among other composers in our repertoire, this special event will feature and celebrate composer Carlisle Floyd, in honor of what would have been his 100th birthday. Floyd is often regarded as the “father of American opera” and is best known for his groundbreaking work Susannah, a lyrical drama set in rural Tennessee. Premiered in 1955, Susannah has become one of the most performed American operas, featuring the beloved aria “Ain’t it a Pretty Night?”— a piece that beautifully reflects themes of wonder, hope, and longing, which tie directly into the Festival’s Season 14 theme of “Sunny Days and Starry Nights.”

“We are thrilled with the success of our thirteenth season and can’t wait to do it all again next year,” said Maria Zouves, Co-Founder of SVF. “I could not be more excited about our 2026 plans as we will tell many stories through the vocal arts. I love the support that all the wonderful artists and I feel every time we perform in this beautiful city, and I hope that we will see everyone again next year.” Zouves continues, “Combining Mozart with a celebration of the great composers of America is a perfect blend. Carlisle Floyd was part of the premiere season of the Savannah VOICE Festival in 2013, so it is very special for us to include him in next year’s events.”
