Singers Tyminski, Kiah to perform free concert in Oak Ridge Aug. 23

Bluegrass singer-songwriter Dan Tyminski will headline ORNL Federal Credit Union’s second Summer Sessions concert in Oak Ridge this Saturday, Aug. 23, from 6-9 p.m. at A.K. Bissell Park.

A native of East Tennessee, Amythyst Kiah will open for Tyminski. The concert is free and open to the public.

Tyminski is a 14-time Grammy ward-winning musician. Known for his work with Alison Krauss and Union Station, according to a news release, his signature vocals are featured on the hit “Man of Constant Sorrow” from the movie, “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” and Avicii’s global chart-topper “Hey Brother.”

Kiah was described by Rolling Stone magazine as “one of Americana’s great up-and-coming secrets. The Grammy nominated singer-songwriter’s sound blends roots, Americana, and alternative folk, the release stated. Her solo work has earned international praise for its emotional depth, bold storytelling, and genre-defying artistry.

Both entertainers have previously performed in Oak Ridge.

Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and enjoy an evening of exceptional live music with friends and family. Local food trucks will be on-site offering a variety of refreshments.

Mark your calendars now for Cruz Contreras & The Black Lillies, who will headline the final ORNL FCU Summer Sessions concert event on Saturday, Sept. 20. The opening bands will be Stoney Point Bluegrass Band and Madelyn Tallent.
