Wally Lake Fest 2025 starts Friday, Aug. 22, and runs through Sunday, Aug. 24, celebrating life in the greater Hawley/Lake Wallenpaupack area with a host of activities.
Originally run by the Downtown Hawley Partnership, for several years the festival has been overseen by the Chamber of the Northern Poconos.
Whether by land or by lake, there are a variety of events, such as concerts, boating events and a classic car show.
Wallypalooza
Live music continues as a major attraction for Wally Lake Fest. Probably the best known is Wallypalooza, which features a variety of bands performing on a floating stage, visible for the crowd that gathers on Tafton Dike and part of the adjacent Wallenpaupack Lake Trail. A favorite tradition is the array of private boats on the lake which the owners anchor in an arc around the stage.
Wallypalooza takes place on Saturday. The headline performer, rock artist Sydney Irving, plays twice, from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and 2:45 to 4 p.m.
Her website says that as a teenager she focused hard on her musical abilities and love for the guitar and writing music, while isolated at home during the Covid 19 pandemic. She dove into her professional music career upon high school graduation.
Presently, Irving conducts over 140 shows a year, both solo acoustic and with a full band, her website states. She recently signed with Deko Entertainment, a label distributed by Warner Music Group/ADA.
Also performing at Wallapalooza are Seems Like Tuesday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., and Ten02 from 1:45 to 2:30 p.m.

Get on the lake
On each of the three days, get on the waters of Lake Wallenpaupack with these events:

Wallenpaupack Scenic Boat Tours, 2487 Route 6, Hawley, 570-226-3293. $20/adults, $18/seniors, $15/children. Tours depart on the hour for a 50-minute tour.
The Paupack Sailing Club is sponsoring one-hour sailboat rides Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at a new location, Ironwood Point Marina 155 Burns Mill Road, Greentown. The cost is $10 each for adults and $5 each children under 13. Cash only. Reservations are required. Call Lisa at 908-963-2649 to book your spot. All proceeds benefit the Tafton Fire Company.

The weekly Hawley Farmers Market takes place on Friday from 2 to 5 p.m. in Bingham Park.
Last Saturday Car Cruise and Auction takes place on Church Street, Hawley, Saturday 3 p.m. to dusk.
The GDS Fair runs from Aug. 22 to 31 in Newfoundland, on the opposite end of Lake Wallenpaupack from Hawley. The fair’s first weekend coincides with Wally Lake Fest, adding to the atmosphere of celebration.
