Harry Potter author JK Rowling has taken another swipe on the subject of trans people, with her latest social media post.
Her recent comments have seen a heavy backlash and she has even upset some Hollywood stars like Boy George, Jade Thirwall, and Pedro Pascal, who recently slammed the author for her “heinous loser behavior.”
The author of the beloved series took to her X account to share her thoughts on the recent Sven Liebich case, where the far-Right extremist now goes by the new name of Marla-Svenja on official documents. Sharing a screenshot of a news article she wrote, “If you don’t agree he’s found his authentic self and is valid, brave and exceptionally vulnerable, you are transphobic.”
The post has seen a response online with some mixed responses, with some people backing her thoughts and others rallying against it. One person in agreement wrote, “They need to stop allowing this.” Another shared, “True, well said as usual.” ‘I’ll take transphobic label over playing into the delusions of a mentally ill person,” said a third.
Others pushed back as one said, “Your cherry-picking of a neo-Nazi exploiting laws to fuel your anti-trans crusade only highlights your own bigotry and obsession with demonizing an entire community.” Another posted, “This whole “phobia” thing is way off the mark. It’s not fear, it’s disgust and loathing and contempt and pity.”
Monsoon went on to point out Rowling’s history of her gender presentation. “I have to presume that J.K. Rowling was unsatisfied with the way that the world saw her, and then she transitioned herself into a new personality so that the world would perceive her the way she wanted to be perceived,” she said.
