The International District Community Center is kicking off a brand-new music festival to wind down summer.
I Music Festival, a new family-friendly fundraising event, is designed to raise money to help “sustain critical community programming” for the center, according to the press release. The inaugural festival is set to include live music ranging from mariachi to rock, dance performances, local food trucks and vendors and multigenerational activities from 1-8 p.m. on Sept. 6 at the International District Community Center, 3919 Lafayette Road.
Proceeds from the I Music Festival will support the International District Community Center’s year-round programming, which serves hundreds of local families — such as after-school programming to keep kids safe, job training to help parents advance their careers and community events to celebrate neighbors, according to a press release.
The event is free and open to the community, representing the center’s effort to “establish an annual tradition that highlights the neighborhood” while generating essential operating revenue, according to a press release.
I Music Festival performance schedule:
1:30 p.m. — Kingly T and Mellow Vibrations (World music/ Reggae)
2:30 p.m. — Dance Group
3 p.m. — Mariachi Sol Jalisciense (Mexican)
4 p.m. — Dance Group
4:30 p.m. –- American Fools Band (John Mellencamp tribute band)
6 p.m. — Dance Group
6:30 p.m. — Toy Factory
