The song takes fans on a journey through the night Wilson and Devlin Hodges first met in 2021 at Silverado Dance Hall & Saloon in Nashville, which has since closed. The couple were introduced by a mutual friend at the saloon, which offered free beer from 5PM to 10PM.

“Catfish shack, feeding ducks on the water/ Alabama son and a Louisiana daughter/ Summer heatwave don’t get much hotter/ Than the burn in that first kiss/ Wondering on downtown to Silverados/ Crowd was line dancing, and we were clinking bottles/ Damn, it kinda feel like we done and hit the lotto/ Free beer from 5 to 10,” Wilson sings, introducing her and Hodges first date on the first verse.

The chorus then begins with Lainey Wilson wishing to relive the magical night she met Hodges over and over, praying that the time would stand still, so the feeling could last forever. “Yesterday all day, every day/ Stuck in a loop like Punxsutawney/ No tock on the ticker, I don’t wanna change/ Twenty-four more of you loving on me,” Wilson sings on the chorus.

By the end of the chorus, Wilson points out that nothing else compares to being by Hodges’ side, even singing that she’d “skip Christmas and the Fourth of July, babe/ cross off the rest of the calendar.”

As the song unfolds, the reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year sings about her excitement over finding “a keeper” and texting her mama to share the news. Wilson also sings that the night she met Hodges won’t be topped “’til we tying that knot at the altar.”

Of the track, Wilson shared, “‘Yesterday, All Day, Every Day,’ came from thinking about the kind of love that never lets up. And that’s the kind of love that me and my old fiancé Duck have. This song right here is a play by play of the night we met.”

Lainey Wilson’s soon-to-be husband, Devlin “Duck” Hodges, hasn’t just inspired “Yesterday, All Day, Every Day,” he is also the inspiration behind songs on the project such as  “4X4XU,” “Counting Chickens” and “Hang Tight Honey.” Wilson also recently shared that he’s become her ultimate songwriting muse.

“He makes it real easy to write love songs,” she previously told Music Mayhem and other media outlets. “It’s a wild thing for me. I didn’t know I had that side there for a while, but it’s an exciting side to discover. I found me somebody who is my biggest cheerleader, my best friend, somebody who is in my corner no matter what, and he’s one of my biggest champions, and I can bounce things off of him.”

Since meeting, Lainey Wilson and Devlin ‘Duck’ Hodges have walked multiple red carpets together, gotten engaged, and are now preparing for their wedding.

“Yesterday, All Day, Every Day” appears as Track 17 on the just-released deluxe edition of Lainey Wilson’s Whirlwind album.

The deluxe edition of Whirlwind is a 19-track project that features the 14 songs from the original album in addition to 5 new tracks, including the aforementioned “Yesterday, All Day, Every Day,” “Bell Bottoms Up,” “King Ranch, King George, King James,” “Peace, Love, and Cowboys,” and her current single, “Somewhere Over Laredo.”

“This story wasn’t quite finished yet,” Wilson stated of Whirlwind in a social media post. “I wrote these last 5 songs when the dust was starting to settle a little bit. Now I’m starting to feel it pick back up with the kick off of my Whirlwind World Tour North America tour dates. Y’all check it out and let me know which one is your favorite. Can’t wait to see you at a show here real soon.”
