Oasis Return to North America With a Storm-Swept, Unifying Night in Toronto

After more than 16 years away, Oasis made their long-awaited return to North America on Sunday night, launching the next leg of their Oasis Live ’25 tour at Toronto’s Rogers Stadium. In front of a sold-out crowd of 55,000, the band delivered not just a concert, but a communal experience—part rock show, part homecoming, part reckoning with time.

The night began with the opening chords of “Hello,” sending a shockwave through the stadium as fans—many of whom hadn’t seen the Gallagher brothers together since the 2000s, erupted in a mixture of cheers and chants. Rolling Stone had called the reunion a “joyous celebration of reconciliation,” and as the crowd roared, that sentiment was impossible to deny.

Just a few songs in, Liam Gallagher paused to tell a story about his morning encounter with a Canadian fan.

“I bumped into a geezer today about half seven in the morning called Hugo,” Liam said, his voice carrying across the stadium with its familiar Mancunian drawl. “He comes up to me and says, ‘Mr. Gallagher,’ and I said, ‘No need for that. It’s Liam.’”

Liam grinned as he recounted Hugo’s warning: “‘Good luck tonight trying to get these Canadians doing the Poznan… They’re all a little bit shy. They all smoke pot now. They’re all f***ing out of their heads.’”

The singer leaned into the mic, riling up the crowd: “So what, are we going to prove them wrong then or what? You don’t want to be the first one letting this side down.”

Moments later, Oasis ripped into Cigarettes & Alcohol. Liam commanded: “You lot turn around. Put your arms around each other. Give each other a cuddle, and just jump up and down. It’s very easy.” By the chorus, the Rogers Stadium floor was a sea of fans bouncing in unison, the Poznan conquered. Liam, satisfied, shouted: “We showed Hugo. We showed ‘em.”

If that moment belonged to joy, the next belonged to chaos. As Noel took the stage for Talk Tonight and Half The World Away, dark clouds rolled in, and by Stand By Me, the skies opened. Rain and wind whipped across the stadium, drenching the crowd and band alike. Liam, soaked but grinning, addressed the storm:

“Don’t you just love it, a little bit of chaos when the weather comes? So f***ing good, innit? Twist your melons just a little bit. All that sunshine, it’s not good for ya. Wind and sleet—good for the soul.”

Far from dispersing, the rain seemed to electrify the night. When the first notes of Whatever rang out, the audience sang louder than the weather, the chorus lifting against the storm like defiance.

From Live Forever to Wonderwall to the closing Champagne Supernova, Oasis reminded Toronto—and the world—why their return matters. It wasn’t just nostalgia. It was communion: thousands of strangers singing together as though they’d known each other forever.

By the time the final notes faded, fans left drenched, hoarse, and deliriously happy. Oasis had proven that not only are they back—they’re bigger than ever. As Liam had put it earlier in the night: “We showed ‘em.” And indeed, they did.

This Thursday they will head to Chicago for a sold-out show at Soldier Field on August 28th. From there, the band will play back-to-back sold-out shows in East Rutherford, Los Angeles, and Mexico City to wrap the North American leg.
