Former Chapel Hart members Trea Swindle and Devynn Hart will combine to form the new rock-tinged country tandem Magnolia Rising.

Chapel Hart is on a break.

The trio from Mississippi, who rose to fame through “America’s Got Talent” and have performed at the Grand Ole Opry more than a dozen times in three years, have announced a pause.

Danica Hart will perform solo for now. Her sister, Devynn Hart, and their cousin, Trea Swindle, will pair as Magnolia Rising.

Magnolia Rising’s inaugural release, “Dream Running,” will be released on Sept. 12.

Representatives for Danica Hart confirmed to The Tennessean that the “pause” is amicable and that she is “working on music that will be released in 2026.”

Regarding announced dates, including at the United Kingdom’s Keep It Country Fest from Oct. 24-26, Devynn and Trea have said Danica will perform at those shows, making them the last Chapel Hart will perform before their pause.

How did allegations and death threats lead to Chapel Hart’s breakup?

On July 2, a now-deleted Facebook post from Danica Hart said she was being “pushed out of her band” due to what she alleged was “(being) subjected to physical violence and abuse,” plus accusations of “bad behavior and immorality going on that had no consequence or repercussions.”

Subsequent social media posts followed.

On July 7, Danica Hart urged Chapel Hart’s fans to stop threatening Devynn and Trea. Three days later, she apologized for the posts and said the trio would continue to tour together.

Chapel Hart performed at the United States’ Ramstein Air Base on Aug. 1 and the German-American Volksfest in Grafenwöhr on Aug. 3.

Devynn and Trea told The Tennessean that they support Danica’s future endeavors.

“We’re supportive of whatever she chooses to do. There will always be three different sides to Chapel Hart. This separation allows the fans an opportunity to dive deeper into all three of those sides, individually,” Swindle said.

How successful did Chapel Hart become?

Over the past decade, Chapel Hart has amassed more than 500,000 social media fans.

In 2022, their performance of “You Can Have Him, Jolene” received the golden buzzer on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” and a standing ovation during a subsequent Grand Ole Opry debut. One year later, they made 160 domestic performance dates and global festival appearances, released an album and earned praise from Country Music Hall of Famers Dolly Parton, Marty Stuart and Tanya Tucker.

However, the trio was unable to sustain that success and secure a record deal with a major Nashville label.

About that issue, Danica Hart noted the following to The Tennessean in a Dec. 2023 interview:

“We’re trying our very best to keep up with those … on a record label. And in a way, I feel like we’ve done pretty well because our names are in conversations. But … we still don’t have a record deal, we still don’t have a publishing deal, we still don’t have sponsorships, and we’re still out here busting our tails.”

What can be expected from Magnolia Rising?

The new duo notes that they’ll lean more in the direction of rock-styled outlaw country.

Hart and Swindle name Little Big Town’s Phillip Sweet as their first big-name songwriting collaborator.

She’d love to see Chapel Hart’s social media pages evolve into places where Danica’s solo work and Magnolia Rising’s artistry as a duo can share a twin billing.

“As we continue our careers, I hope that for all parties involved, our fanbases and success will continue to grow.”
