A CBS News reporter on Tuesday was absolutely enchanted to find out that Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce were engaged.
Olivia Rinaldi — who covers the White House for CBS News — revealed on social media that one of the network’s producers, Gaby Ake, texted her with “the world’s biggest news” after the celebrity megacouple shared pictures of the garden proposal on Instagram.
In a clip shared by CBS News, Rinaldi’s jaw dropped as she looked down at her phone while standing outside the White House ahead of a live TV segment.
“Taylor Swift is engaged! Taylor Swift is engaged!” Rinaldi said while waving around her phone and gesturing for the studio to “come back” to her to share the news.
She later continued, “Oh, my God! Oh, my God! … I feel like Paul Revere right now.”
Rinaldi — who also remarked on Swift’s “ginormous” ring, one that experts estimate is worth hundreds of thousands of dollars — could barely hide her joy before she broke the news to viewers, cracking a smile in what she described as an “exciting moment” in her professional career.
