Do you miss the era of horror when, as the movie ended, the end credits would often be accompanied by some badass metal music? Or when many new horror movies had official tie-in music videos? It seems like a rarity these days, but the people behind the upcoming horror comedy The Fetus and the independent metal band To Die For want to bring that feeling back!

Released today, exclusively by Bloody Disgusting, is the new music video for the song “The Devil Inside” by To Die For. The song was written specifically for The Fetus, and the video acts as a short prequel for the film. Take a look below!

This video was filmed and edited by Travis Ilapit.

As a preview for The Fetus, this is fantastic. I love the idea of using a video like this as a prequel rather than just showing clips of the movie. It establishes a fantastic tone for what we can expect to see when the movie is released, and it invites repeated viewings for those of us who love digging into lore and searching for clues. Plus, the song rocks.

The Fetus is scheduled for a streaming release on September 9th, 2025. We’ve written about the movie before, and we’re super excited about finally getting to see the finished product.

The Fetus stars Lauren LaVera as Alessa, a woman who is worried about her pregnancy. Alessa’s mother died during childbirth, so she and her partner Chris (Julian Curtis) go to see if her father Maddox (Bill Moseley) might be able to tell them more about exactly what they might expect. Their fears turn out to be completely warranted, because the fetus begins to emerge from Alessa’s womb to kill, only to retreat back inside.

The Fetus is written and directed by Joe Lam.

Featured in the video for “The Devil Inside” is Evan Towell, one of the co-stars in The Fetus. In the movie, Towell plays the younger version of Bill Mosely’s character Maddox. Also starring in the video are, of course, the members of To Die For. Tyler Morris (vocals), Matt Bolea (vocals), and Joseph Sauret (guitars, production) can be seen performing the song and being hunted by Towell’s Maddox. How does this all tie into the movie? We’ll find out on September 9th.

I will say though, two things sprang to mind while I was watching the video. First, I was reminded of the end credits of Freddy vs. Jason (2003) when the audience is hit with a song from the band Ill Niño. It’s such a fun moment in an already incredibly fun movie. Which is similar to the end credits of Resident Evil (2002) with Slipknot, and Ghost Ship (2002) with Mudvayne, and many more examples. The early-to-mid 2000s had some awesome ways to cap off a horror movie, and To Die For’s “The Devil Inside” certainly evokes that era. Now, I can’t confirm that The Fetus will feature “The Devil Inside” as the end-credit song since I haven’t seen the movie yet, but come on.

Also, with the interactions in “The Devil Inside” between the band and an actor from the movie, I was also reminded of Dokken’s game-changing music video for A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987). Patricia Arquette and Robert Englund shot new footage for the video which was incorporated with scenes from the film. The video was also the first to be included on the VHS with the movie.

There are lots of other similar examples in the 1980s like the video for Alice Cooper’s “The Man Behind the Mask” for Jason Lives (1986), and the video for “Scream Until You Like It’ by W.A.S.P. for Ghoulies II (1988). But those didn’t necessarily have the film’s actors in them. In my opinion, every rock band/horror movie collaboration like this owes some thanks to what Dokken and Dream Warriors accomplished together, and the collaboration between To Die For and The Fetus is a standout part of that lineage.
