What’s playing at the MAC this fall? Jazz, unplugged sets and holiday tunes

The Marion Art Center (MAC) is tuning up for a lively fall season packed with acoustic sets, jazz tributes and holiday classics, according to a community announcement. From intimate gallery performances to full-stage concerts, the lineup features regional favorites and returning artists, including Matt York, Putnam Murdock and longtime collaborators Matt Richard, Donn Legge and Dori Rubbicco.

The season kicks off with MAC Unplugged, continues with a Willie Nelson tribute, and wraps up with a festive holiday concert reimagining Christmas songs in jazz, Latin and pop styles.

Sept. 13: Matt York shares songs and stories of Willie Nelson

Matt York is expected to perform “The Songs & Stories of Willie Nelson” at 7 p.m. Sept. 13 in the MAC’s Anne Braitmayer Webb Theater. Accompanied by fiddle player Angelica Vendetti, York will share music and anecdotes from Nelson’s seven-decade career and discuss his recent book, “The Words and Wisdom of Willie.” Tickets are $20 for members and $25 for nonmembers, according to the announcement.

York has twice been nominated for Best Country Artist by the Boston Music Awards, and his album Gently Used was named one of the top albums of the year by the Patriot Ledger.

Oct. 3: Nina Ott and Chris Lopes open MAC Unplugged

The MAC Unplugged series begins with Nina Ott and Chris Lopes performing at 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Oct. 3 in the Patsy Francis Gallery. Each evening includes two seatings, and tickets are $15 for MAC members and $20 for nonmembers. The gallery is located at 80 Pleasant St. in Marion.

Nov. 8: Putnam Murdock & Friends return to the MAC

Putnam Murdock is expected to perform with a rotating group of collaborators from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Nov. 8 in the Anne Braitmayer Webb Theater. The annual concert is known for its fresh energy and evolving lineup. Tickets are $25 for members and $30 for nonmembers.

Nov. 21: Donn Legge and Jack Coleman join MAC Unplugged

The Unplugged series continues with Donn Legge and Jack Coleman on Nov. 21. Two seatings are planned: 7 to 8 p.m. and 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 for MAC members and $20 for nonmembers. All Unplugged events are held in the Patsy Francis Gallery.

Dec. 19: Holiday jazz concert wraps up the season

A special holiday concert titled “Unplugged on the MAC Stage” is scheduled for 7 to 9:30 p.m. Dec. 19. The performance will feature Matt Richard (piano), Donn Legge (guitar) and Dori Rubbicco (vocals), longtime friends and graduates of Westfield State College’s music program. The trio will reimagine traditional and contemporary Christmas songs in jazz, Latin and pop styles. Tickets are $20 for members and $25 for nonmembers, and the concert includes an intermission.
