As the ongoing shakeup continues backstage at Saturday Night Live, the current cast of the hit NBC comedy series have officially broken their silence on their former co-stars sudden departures from the show.
In particular, SNL stars Bowen Yang, Marcello Hernández and Chloe Fineman have all commented on their former cast mates’ respective social media accounts, bidding farewell to their fellow comedians.
In August, Saturday Night Live confirmed that several different cast members would be exiting the show ahead of Season 51, including Michael Longfellow, Devon Walker, Emil Wakim and Heidi Gardner, the latter of whom had been at the series for the past eight seasons.
In response to their cast members’ exit, several current and former Saturday Night Live stars have expressed their support for the departing players, as observed by The Hollywood Reporter.
Responding to Longfellow’s Instagram post announcing his SNL exit after three seasons, Marcello Hernández commented, “Love bro, thank you for letting me cfb whenever, my roommate.” In response, Longfellow wrote back to Hernández, “the ps5, shes yours now brother.”
Similarly responding to Longfellow’s post, Bowen Yang wrote, “Jesus WAS Chinese. I love you Michael,” referencing a past sketch on SNL’s long-running Weekend Update.
Likewise, Chloe Fineman commented on Devon Walker’s Instagram post announcing his departure from the series. “I’ll miss being your pregnant wife all the time!!!!!”
Gardner also reacted to Walker’s post with a simply worded, “I love you.”
Responding to Wakim’s Instagram post announcing his exit, Fineman went on to comment, “Your such a stat and ill miss sitting next to the best dressed man at table read!!!”
Certain alum from SNL’s past have also voiced their support and appreciation for the exiting cast members.
Punkie Johnson, for example, commented on Wakim’s post by saying, “I’m glad you are focusing on the good and are proud of yourself and the work you put in not many people can say they were on SNL and for the 50th in legendary… You a legend baby… Outside ain’t bad. Welcome back.”
