Drew Barrymore wants to remake Death Becomes Her with Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston.
The 50-year-old star’s last major acting role was in TV series Santa Clarita Diet, which ended in 2019 after three seasons, but she admitted her frequent co-star Adam could tempt her back to the big screen.
But she noted in a clip from her The Drew Barrymore Show: “However. Adam knows that I really want to work with him and Jennifer Aniston, together. They both know that.
“We’ve batted around some ideas.
“As a joke, we say we’ll make the Three’s Company movie, but I’m really bullish on Death Becomes Her, a remake of that.”
Drew starred with Jennifer in 2003’s He’s Just Not That Into You and Adam in The Wedding Singer (1998), 50 First Dates (2004), and Blended (2014) , while her pals have appeared together in two Murder Mystery films and Just Go With It.
Death Becomes Her was released in 1992 and told the story of actress Madeline (Meryl Streep), who took an immortality treatment. The dark comedy was directed by Robert Zemeckis and also starred Goldie Hawn, Bruce Willis and Isabella Rossellini.
In April, Drew admitted she and Adam had been looking for a new project to work on together.
She said on her show: “That’s a yes, and it’s a matter of when. But I don’t think it’ll be too long because we’ve always done something every 10 years. We’re running out of time; we’re past 10 years at this point.
“We’re constantly seeing each other and hanging out, so I think it’s always a matter of, ‘What is it?’ So we’re on the search for it because we’re happy when we’re together.”
The Charlie’s Angels actress noted she is keen to “grow old” with Adam and his wife Jackie.
She added: “We’ve had so many evolutions. When we started The Wedding Singer, we were both young and single and in our early 20s.
“Now we’re both parents and have girls of a certain age. So what is the thing that’s going to sort of speak to what we do next? We’ve just got to find it.”
Drew previously singled out the 58-year-old actor as her favourite screen kiss.
She said on Watch What Happens Live: “I mean, I love that Adam Sandler and I are so platonic. We never dated; his wife Jackie is my dear friend.
“But I love being in films with him, because I think we’re representing something bigger than hot, sexual chemistry. We’re representing true admiration of another person.”
