Lady Gaga is officially kicking off spooky season with her latest music video release.
On Wednesday, Sept. 3, the Grammy-winning artist dropped a chilling music video for her new song “The Dead Dance“—and the perfectly creepy video is already making fans want to dance until they’re dead.
Directed by none other than Tim Burton, the new music video is full of dark and nightmarish imagery, including eerie broken dolls that appear to be dancing along to the upbeat pop track.
Gaga, 39, also rocks a hauntingly beautiful look in the video, with dramatic hair and makeup giving the singer a gothic broken doll effect. Her look also featured sunken smokey eyes and a dark lip color, as well as texture added to her skin to mimic the appearance of cracked porcelain.
Fans were instantly taken with the “Halloween-coded” video from Gaga, especially with the fall season rapidly approaching.
“spooky szn has officially arrived,” one of her fans declared under a snippet of the video posted to Instagram on Wednesday, while other fans said the video was already “on repeat.”
“Absolute Cinema 🖤🔥” someone wrote about the Burton-directed project, while others left comments to call the video pure “art” and the “best video” that some fans have ever seen.
“Few things are as perfect for me as a Halloween-coded Gaga video filled with macabre dolls and directed by Tim Burton,” another commenter wrote. “I’m beyond words happy right now!”
The official Instagram account for Netflix’s Wednesday series chimed in with a comment that read, “DO THE DEAD DANCE.”
Lady Gaga’s Role in Season 2 of Wednesday
As many fans already know, Gaga’s experience working with Burton goes beyond her new music video. The “Poker Face” singer already got to know Burton while making a guest appearance in Season 2 of Netflix’s Wednesday, for which he serves as a director and executive producer.
Gaga plays the role of Rosaline Rotwood, a dead professor at Nevermore Academy. She made her Wednesday debut in the second batch of episodes that dropped on Wednesday, Sept. 3, after Gaga’s character wasn’t featured in the first group of episodes that aired in August.
Tim Burton Gushes Over Lady Gaga
After working with Gaga on Wednesday and directing her new music video, Burton previously had nothing but good things to say about his collaborations with the music superstar.
“She just an inspiring artist and I feel very connected to her,” Burton said during an interview back in July. “Just for me, it’s exciting to work with an artist I respect and admire.”
