MUMBAI: Los Yesterdays, the Chicano soul band at the forefront of The Souldies Scene, are releasing a new video for their heartfelt single “Name on Me”. Recently spotlighted in The New York Times for their role in the Souldies—a vibrant movement preserving and reinventing soul music—the band’s latest visual offering is both an homage to their fans and a celebration of love. “Engagement and wedding bands are lovely tokens of a couple’s love,” says founding member and singer Bad Vic, “But tattoos hold a deeper significance. A tattoo is a part of you. Getting your loved one’s name tattooed on you physically expresses what Ritchie Valens once faithfully penned: ‘You’re mine. And we belong together.’”

“Name on Me” is a video love letter to the fans. Shot at the Garden Amphitheater using iPhones from director David Brocca and crowd-sourced fan footage, the video immerses viewers in the live experience. Featuring female lead vocalist Jackie Mendez and Tex Nakamura on harmonica, the track evokes a summer of love, lifelong promises, and endless possibilities.

Formed by Gabriel Rowland and Victor Benavides, Los Yesterdays are a Los Angeles-based multi-ethnic soul band whose music pays homage to the golden era of Soul music from the ’60s to the early ’80s. Drawing from personal and cultural experiences growing up in South Central and East LA, the band bridges generations of love, heartbreak, and nostalgia while keeping the Chicano soul tradition alive. Their music showcases their signature blend of R&B, guitar-driven Mexican balladry, and heartfelt crooning.

The New York Times recently highlighted Los Yesterdays as part of The Souldies Movement, acknowledging their pivotal role in keeping classic soul alive while adding a contemporary Chicano perspective.
