Cardi B, fresh off a swiftly celebrated legal victory and mere days away from releasing her long-teased sophomore album, offers a succinctly delivered answer to a question about Offset in a new interview.
Speaking with Billboard for a new cover story, available in full here, the Am I the Drama? artist was asked about the possibility of a “lasting friendship” with the Migos alum, from whom she filed for divorce last July. Cardi didn’t go long on the question, opting instead to keep her response decidedly brief.
“I tried,” Cardi, currently dating New England Patriots player Stefon Diggs, told the publication. “Next question.”
On “Move On,” the closing track to his recently released Kiari album, Offset reflects on his and Cardi’s relationship, saying he’s “tryna move on in peace.” Offset himself confirmed the song was inspired by his and Cardi’s falling-out, telling Associated Press that the intended message of the song centered on “peacefully” closing a chapter for him and Cardi both.
“It was great while it lasted,” he said last month. “That shouldn’t be the topic for neither one of us no more. It’s a book that’s closed.”
As fans are aware, Offset and Card’s public remarks about their relationship, both those of the directly and indirectly variety, have been frequent headlines fodder, particularly over the past year. In June 2024, for example, Cardi, though she did not mention Offset by name, shared some post-breakup advice with fans centered on the importance of pushing oneself to “go outside with your fucking friends.”
As for that new album, you can expect it on Sept. 19, complete with the HOV-sampling “Imaginary Playerz.”
