Miami Dolphins outside linebackers coach Ryan Crow allegedly choked a woman during an argument at an apartment complex in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, according to a 911 call obtained by TMZ.
“A guy started choking his girl outside,” the unnamed caller told the dispatcher on Thursday, August 28. “And then they went back inside upstairs to the floor and we heard him slam her.”
Crow, 37, was arrested and charged with one domestic battery charge for touching or striking the woman. He was booked into Broward County Main Jail and released Saturday after posting a $1,000 bond, as a judge ordered him to stay away from the woman.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge on Tuesday, September 2, according to court records viewed by TMZ.
“He started choking her around 11:45,” the caller claimed. “And then they went back upstairs and we can hear them fighting.”
The caller stated that no weapons were involved and that the dispute was just “physical.” An incident report obtained by TMZ alleges the dispute began with “a verbal argument about past relationships” that “escalated to a physical altercation when [Crow] intentionally shoved [the woman] out of anger.”
The report also states that the woman did not report any physical injuries and refused to provide a sworn statement, though multiple witnesses saw the alleged altercation. One said they saw Crow “with his arms around the victim as if he was going to perform a takedown.” That same witness claimed that the woman “looked terrified” as he lifted her off the ground and whispered something in her ear.
Another witness told police that they saw Crow allegedly slap the woman, but he stopped when he realized people were watching.

Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel announced on Monday that Crow would be placed on indefinite administrative leave.
“We’re going to let the process play out — the allegations, we take extremely serious,” McDaniel, 42, told the media. “Rule No. 1 for our team is protect the team … To be on a team, it’s a blessing that you have to have regard for things much bigger than yourself. Rule No. 1 is to protect the team for reasons such as that, and that one was violated.”
Senior defensive assistant Sean Ryan will coach the team’s outside linebackers in Crow’s absence.
Crow joined the Dolphins’ staff in 2024 after spending six seasons with the Tennessee Titans, the last three as OLB coach.
Us Weekly has reached out to the Fort Lauderdale police and the Dolphins for comment. Miami opens the regular season on Sunday afternoon on the road against the Indianapolis Colts.
