If you’ve watched any of TV series “The Runarounds” on Amazon’s Prime Video streaming service this week — and with the Wilmington-shot show being Amazon’s fourth-most-watched since its Sept. 1 premiere, a lot of people have — you’ve heard music by Wilmington bands scoring the on-screen action.
I’ve put together a playlist of songs by Wilmington acts you’ll hear on the series (see below), with the big winner being the propulsive Port City rock act Kicking Bird, which scored four songs on the show.
Kicking Bird records for Wilmington label Fort Lowell Records, and another Fort Lowell band, Summer Set, has two songs on the show. A third Fort Lowell act, former Wilmington singer Kim Ware and her band, The Good Graces, have a song as well.
Wilmington indie folk act The Paper Stars and rocker Max Agee (of Lawn Enforcement) placed one tune each on the show, which also features a who’s-who of rock industry stalwarts, from The Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin to Ween and Dr. Dog, as well as the title band. If you watch “The Runarounds” with subtitles, the names of the bands and the songs sometimes (but not always) appear on the screen.

Getting to know the ‘Kingfisher’
