(FOX40.COM) — “One Battle After Another” is the next big movie coming out in theaters that was filmed in the Sacramento area.

It stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Benicio del Toro, Regina Hall, and debut actress Teyana Taylor.
Sacramento briefly mentioned in what’s supposedly one of the scariest movies of all time
The premise of the movie is about ex-revolutionaries reuniting to rescue one of their own daughters from an “evil nemesis” that resurfaces after 16 years, according to Letterboxd.
Paul Thomas Anderson, known for “There Will Be Blood”, “Licorice Pizza”, “Punch-Drunk Love”, “Magnolia”, and “Phantom Thread”, directed the film.
“One Battle After Another” is considered an action crime thriller, but the official trailer for the film also showcases some comedic moments.
Filming took place between January and February of 2024 in Northern California, with certain areas closed off in Sacramento, Stockton, and more.
More than $5.7 million was spent locally during the 16 days of shooting, providing an economic boost to the city, according to the City of Sacramento.
Iconic locations can be seen in the marketing for the movie, including shots of downtown Sacramento, the Sacramento County Superior Court, Tower Bridge, the railyards and more. However, it’s unclear how much of the story will take place in the capital of California.
“One Battle After Another” is rated R and will be released in theaters on September 26.
